Welcome to the best films of 2015. A year where the long-awaited Star Wars trilogy returned. James Bond, Ethan Hunt and a new British Spy came along to save the world. It was a year that brought a creepy movie that had an entity that followed you after hooking up. A year where you would have to survive on Mars. 2015 was a crazy year and the midpoint of the 2010s. It was a lovely year! There were so many films in this year that 10 doesn’t do it justice.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Via: Walt Disney Pictures

As Han said, “Chewie, we’re back.” Set thirty years after Return of the Jedi, things have gotten serious. The film introduces new characters such as Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron. Rey follows Han as they search for Luke who is needed by his sister Leia in order to fight the First Order, a successor to the Galactic Empire and Kylo Ren, a Darth Vader wannabe. The film brought back some awesome scenes and brought Star Wars back to the forefront. Kylo’s lightsaber went HARD.

Jurassic World

Via: Universal Pictures

After two duds of a sequel, we finally return to Jurassic Park or Jurassic World. Set 22 years after the events of the original Jurassic Park (1993), Jurassic World takes place on the same fictional island of Isla Nublar. A now successful theme park of the cloned dinosaurs we are introduced to new characters played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard Dallas. Shit gets real when the dinosaurs escape and people run for their lives. Oh, how I love Jurassic Park.

It Follows

There is nothing wrong with getting some action in your life. What you need to do is make sure you wrap your shit up and make sure you practice safe sex. It Follows is a supernatural psychological horror film where a young woman has a sexual encounter and is pursued by a supernatural entity after it. The entity starts off far away but draws closer and closer. The only way to stop it is have sex with another individual. This film is creepy, amazing and will make you think about hooking up.

Mad Max: Fury Road

Via: Warner Bros

“Oh, what a day. What a lovely day!” In the fourth installment and reboot of the Mad Max franchise, George Miller came back with an absolute stunner and banger. Set in a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland where petrol and water are scarce commodities, Tom Hardy plays Max who joins forces with badass Imperator Furiosa against the evil cult leader Immortan Joe and his army. Shit gets real and wild with a fire spewing guitarist beautiful visual effects and intense moments. One of the best films of the year.

Straight Outta Compton

Via: Universal Pictures

How can I not put this film in the top 10? N.W.A was iconic for the rap game but also the black community and what it meant from the West Side rap. The film depicts the rise and fall of the hip hop group N.W.A and its members Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. Everyone who performed in this film did an outstanding job and should be commended. Give praise to this iconic group.

Inside Out

Via: Walt Disney Studios

Who knew that feelings had feelings. In Pixar’s amazing film that follows the inner workings inside the mind of a young girl with five personified emotions administered her thoughts and actions, we see some “emotional” stuff. It’s funny to see how the five emotions are depicted in this film. It’s all about Anger because dude blew up like a volcano.

Sicario

Via: Lionsgate

If you want to watch an intense drug enforcement film, then look no further than this film. It has Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin that get down and dirty with drug trafficking. The film follows a straight-edge FBI agent who is enlisted by a government task force to bring down the leader of a powerful Mexican drug cartel. The first scene is intense but the scene with del Toro will send shivers down your spine.

Creed

Via: Warner Bros Pictures

In the seventh installment of the Rocky series, the focus turns to Adonis Creed played by Michael B. Jordan. Adonis comes to Rocky to be trained and become a fighter like his father, Apollo Creed. This film is awesome and hit a new high for the Rocky series. Stallone even got nominated for best supporting actor.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation

Via: Paramount Pictures

I don’t know what got into Tom Cruise but his Mission Impossible series has been getting better and better each year now. Rogue Nation was a straight up banger of a spy film. In this one, Ethan Hunt and his team are on the run from the Central Intelligence Agency following the disbandment of the Impossible Missions Force. Shit gets really real whey they go up against the Syndicate.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Via: 20th Century Fox

I had to put Kingsman on the list. It is a very entertaining film with that British swag to it. Taron Egerton has been making them films lately. In this one he plays, Gary “Eggsy” Unwin who is recruited and trained to be a secret spy. He has to take on the threat of Richmond Valentine played by the one and only Samuel L. Jackson, a wealthy megalomaniac and eco-terrorist. The film also has Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Michael Caine. What more could you ask for.
