2021 was a MOSTER year in film. It took me a while to figure out which one of these films was in my top 10. You have two titans fighting, a classic video game, Marvel films and James Bond and many great animated films. Here we go with my top 10 list!!!

Dune

Via: Warner Bros

Dune is by far one of the best films made in 2021. Must give MAJOR props to director Denis Villeneuve for making a remake that was out of this world. The visual effects were mind-blowing, and the story was a chef’s kiss. The freakin cast was perfect with every person doing their job to perfection. This is honestly one of the best Sci-fi films ever made and done in a long ass time.

Encanto

Via: Walt Disney

This list wouldn’t be creditable if I didn’t add Encanto. Encanto was a MONSTER hit from Disney that follows a multigenerational Colombian family where all but Mirabel receives magical gifts. The film is phenomenal and that soundtrack. The classic We Don’t Talk About Bruno is a banger.

Judas and the Black Messiah

Via: Warner Bros. Pictures

I want to give it up to Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield. Their performances are the reasons this film is so freakin amazing. The film follows the betrayal of Fred Hampton, the chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party at the hands of FBI informant William O’Neal. One of the best films to show a great leader who died at a young age. I Am A Revolutionary!

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Vis: Sony Pictures/Marvel

I had to put this Spider-Man film on the list. The Spider-Man film that brought Tobey and Andrew back into their Spider-Man costumes. When Marvel was trying to figure out their multi-verse direction, they delivered on this film. Tom Holland was great as one of the Peter Parkers and this film is one of the best. We even got the three Spider-Man finger point and all the classic villains.

Godzilla vs. Kong

Via: Warner Bros

Godzilla and King Kong! Two of the biggest and meanest titans in cinema. Who would win in a fight between them? Would it be the King or the one that is a God. This is a remake from one of those classic films but this one shows the return of the two titans on the big screen together. We all know I’m a HUGE Godzilla fan. Seeing this film made the child in me love it all over again! Godzilla is my king and god. Now do the roar!!

The Suicide Squad

Via: Warner Bros

The first Suicide Squad was straight up trash. When a sequel was announced I rolled my eyes because who would want to go see a sequel to a film that was terrible. With a film starring the likes of Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis and many others, this film was freakin funny. The chemistry, jokes and plot were fantastic. Plus, who gets a chance to fight a giant alien starfish named Starro the Conqueror. A great superhero film.

No Time to Die

Via: United Artists

What a freakin journey for Daniel Craig’s as James Bond. In his fifth and final portrayal of the legendary turn as the British MI6 agent James Bond. The film might not be the best of the Daniel Craig era, but this was a film that put a good bow on this era. The film has a pretty good plot, but the ending was a way to officially end this era. Craig is without a doubt the second-best James Bond ever.,

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Via: Marvel Studios

I must admit that this film is one of the better MCU films of late. The MCU has started to be a crap shot of good or bad films. Shang-Chi is a film that is the first Marvel film with an Asian director and a predominantly Asian cast. The film is really fun to watch and enjoyable. The problem is that there seems to be no plans for any other films.

Pig

Via: Neon

Nicolas Cage has had quite the career. He has had a decent number of great films and a decent amount of WTF films. When you think of Pig, you probably think it would’ve been a flop and not worth your time. I have to admit that Pig is an excellent film and Cage should’ve been nominated for an Academy Award. Cage stars as a truffle-hunter whose beloved pig is kidnapped and his journey to find it.

Mortal Kombat

Via: Warner Bros. Pictures

There were a ton of films to put as the last one, but I went with Mortal Kombat. Why? Because it’s MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!! This was the reboot that the film and game series needed. The story was pretty good, but it takes place before the tournament. The first 10 minutes were great with the backstory of Scorpion and Sub Zero. All the over-the-top fights are fun to watch. Hope the sequel is just as good.
