If you have read Greek Mythology, one of the major Gods is Hades, the god of the dead and king of the underworld. Hades is the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea and after the war of the titans, drew the short end of the stick when his brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, with each receiving the sky and sea. In the Disney animated film, Hercules, Hades is the main villain and is straight up AWESOME. Voiced by James Woods, Woods brings this Hades to life with comedy and evilness. Much credit needs to be given to Woods. Bow down to the Greek God, HADES!!!!!
As Lord of the Underworld, Hades is a fearsome god. He is displayed as a slender but muscular man. His features are quite distinct from the other Greek Gods in the animated film. Rather than having a bright glow about himself as with the other gods, Hades is gloomier. He has bluish-gray skin that looks nothing like his brother. Dude also has flaming blue hair, yellow eyes and sharp teeth that could be shark teeth. Hades is also extremely tall and wears a black robe with a skull on it. How the hell are you related to Zeus? Hades’ appearance also is reflective of his emotions. When he is pissed, his skin turns bright red, and his hair turns orange. Don’t let his flaming hair fool you, he is actually bald.
You would think that being an immortal god, Hades would be somewhat cool. Being the Lord of the Underworld, Hades is one of the most miserable people you want to be around, and the other gods do not like him. Hades is a highly sarcastic, cynical, manipulative, ego-centric, narcissistic, manipulative and ruthless god who seems to need a hug. He is probably like that as he must be around dead people all day long.
Even though Hades can be moody and critical, the dude has a silver tongue. She is a smooth and fast-talker and would make any cars salesman blush. The dude could probably sell ice to an Eskimo. Hades is so good at his negotiation skills; he has ownership of Meg’s soul. Hades dislikes his current status as he is aggressive, resentful and completely jealous of his brother, Zeus, as the position he holds as the King of the Gods. Hades wants to do everything he can to kill his brother and become the new king of gods.
What makes Hades a fearsome villain is his godly powers. As Lord of the Underworld and one of the big three of the Greek Gods, Hades has a vast array of powers at his disposal. If you take out the fact that he is immortal, Hades is extremely skilled in dark magic. He can manipulate dark magic and has the ability to come up with potions that will make any god a mortal. Which makes me think, why doesn’t he use the potion on the gods? Hades also seems to control all things fire as he has powers over fire and magma. Hades also seems to be able to manipulate life and death even though the Fates are around him. The one thing that makes Hades fearsome is that he has full control and domain over the Underworld and everything it has to offer. That’s an army of souls at his disposal.
As Lord of the Underworld, Hades is a fearsome god who will do anything to rise and take what he believes as his rightful place as King of the Gods. In this version of Hades, Hades is funny but also talks like a sleazy car salesman. He talks fast, is manipulative and has many bouts of anger. Hey, when you are around dead people all day, I would be gloomy and looking for life. Give it up for the Lord of the Dead.
