Movies That Make You Go Huh Martial Arts #1

I love the martial arts genre. Bruce Lee and his films from Enter the Dragon, Fist of Fury, The Last Dragon, Bloodsport and so many others have definitely made this genre worth watching. Maybe I will do a posting on the best martial arts films. With the best, you know you have some films that are God awful. Here are some films where they don’t punch as fast, kick as high nor are they fun to watch. Have fun trying to block these films from your memory.

Surf Ninjas (1993)

Via: New Line Cinema

I will fully admit that I was one of the kids who went and saw Surf Ninjas in the theaters. Back then I thought it was cool. Who wouldn’t want to surf and fight all at the same time. When you get older, you see how wrong your thoughts were. A film that follows two teen surfers who suddenly find out they are royalty and must go home to get their kingdom. This film is bad in more ways than one. You literally will wipe out if you watch this film. Maybe that’s the reason I never learned how to surf.

3 Ninjas Kick Back (1994)

Via: TriStar Pictures

I saw the first 3 Ninjas in the theaters when it first came out. I thought it was pretty good, and I was only 7 back then. I remember when 3 Ninjas Kick Back came out and I thought it was pretty cool. I remember watching it in the theaters also. I recently rewatched it and man is it bad. Damn, how the mind changes from looking at something before to now. I feel like if you make a martial arts film, the sequel seems to always have the characters go to Japan. You might as well go to Japan and see all the sights than watch this film.

The One (2001)

Via: Sony Pictures

One of the original multiverse films. It stars Jet Li who is goes to each version of himself to kill them and gain their powers. His goal is to be the only one in all dimensions and be called The One. The concept was interesting, the acting and everything else was blah. Even the fight scenes could’ve used some work. Maybe this film is a martial arts hit in another dimension. I actually own this freakin movie. What was I thinking?

The Medallion (2003)

Via: TriStar Pictures

Jackie Chan stars as Eddie, a Hong Kong police officer who is hired to capture a crime lord named Snakehead as dude wants to kidnap a boy with powers. The film story was meh and we come to see Chan do some wild students. The thing is that the special effects took away from Chan and made this film extremely unbearable to watch. You have a better time watching Jackie Chan Adventures.

Rush Hour 3 (2007)

Via: New Line Cinema

Rush Hour 2 was okay but after watching Rush Hour 3, this film didn’t need to be made. This time, our favorite pair go to Paris to try to stop a crime. The jokes were extremely stale and the story made almost no sense. This is a perfect example when you try to stay with a franchisee too long. You don’t need to make three films. Sometimes only one movie is enough but nope, have to go to Paris. If there is a fourth film, where will that one be? Probably Brazil.
