Ohhhhhhhh Demi Moore, how have I had the BIGGEST crush on you for many, many, many years. I still do have a crush on you. How about you get in touch with me! Today, we honor the amazing Demi Moore as this week’s Turtle Star. Moore has been in the movie game for a while. She rose to major stardom in the late 1980s and early 1990s with being the highest paid actress by 1995. We call that Boss Lady movies. Starting off as a model, she made the jump to acting with a role in General Hospital. It’s all about those soap operas. In the 80s, she was part of the Brat Pack, and her career blew up. Through her amazing career she has been nominated countless times but hasn’t one that elusive major award. I have a feeling she is about to get one soon. Let’s give a standing ovation to the beautiful and foine woman, Demi Moore.
Molly Jensen – Ghost (1990)
This was one of Moore’s most iconic films during the height of her career or maybe the beginning of the Moore era. Ghost was a hit and romantic thriller that follows Sam and Molly. When Sam is murdered, he reaches from beyond the grave to make sure his boo-thang is safe from the person who killed him. This was one of Moore’s strongest performances as the heartbroken Molly who grieves for her loss. Moore received a Golden Globe nomination for her role. When you are remembered for the clay scene, you know you done it right.
Elisabeth Sparkle- The Substance (2024)
The role that I hope Demi Moore wins ALL the major awards for. Moore was built and ready for a role like this as it seems to be close to what many aging actresses go through. Moore plays Elizabeth Sparkle (what a last name), an once renown and famous actress whose career hits a dead period as she hits 50. Sounds familiar? In an effort to stay relevant and in the spotlight, she takes a little liquid called the Substance. This film is good and Moore makes the most of it and excels calling upon her own experiences as one of the top stars in the 90s with a somewhat fading star. This role will bring Moore back into the fold and get her that elusive award.
LCDR JoAnne Galloway- A Few Good Men (1992)
“You Can’t Handle the Truth!” In this military courtroom drama, Moore stars alongside Tom Cruise where they are given a case of two Marines accused of killing a fellow soldier. Moore plays Naval investigator and lawyer Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway (Moore) who challenges Cruise’s character but pushes him. Moore plays Galloway as a strong woman who doesn’t take shit from anyone and has an eye for details. Moore is the only woman in this male dominant role but when she is on screen, she doesn’t wilt.
Erin Grant- Striptease (1996)
I’m not even going to front; Striptease is an awful movie. Moore was blasted with negative reviews for her performance as an FBI secretary trying to hustle to keep her kid. She turns to stripping but if OnlyFans was around back then, Erin would be making bank. I don’t care what anyone says, Moore is FOINE, and did you see her body? Oh LAWD, Help Me. You can tell Moore literally worked her ass off to get in fabulous shape. Let’s be real, when someone offers you $12.5 million to star in a film, you best believe I would shake my ass for up to 2 hours. Can’t hate.
Lieutenant Jordan O’Neil- G.I. Jane (1997)
G.I. Jane is a toss up for many people. When a woman senator pushes for the Navy to be more inclusive of women and selects Lt. O’Neil to be the first woman introduced in the Navy Seals program, everyone expects her to fail. Moore goes hard as she shaves her head and does the training. She proved that she was up for the challenge to show her range and commitment. Reason I say people were mixed because Moore gives a strong performance yet, she won the Razzie for Worst Actress in this role.
Meredith Johnson- Disclosure (1994)
In a film that deals with sexual harassment in the workplace with the woman doing it to the man, Moore plays Meredith Johnson, the ex-girlfriend of Tom who is brought on to handle the merger of a company. Meredith uses her position to make sexual advances towards Tom and when he rejects her, she makes a false complaint. Moore is amazing as the femme fatale. She plays Meredith as a no remorse, vengeful bitch. Damn, it’s hard to say no to Moore in this role but in all seriousness, this film does show that woman can sexually harass men.
Madison Lee- Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003)
I’m not a fan of the Charlie Angels films. The first one was blah to me and when the second one came out, I didn’t want to watch it. The special effects were over the top, the plot was awful, and it was hard to watch. The one shining aspect of this entire film was Demi Moore as the villainous Madison Lee. As Lee, she is a former angel who wants revenge against the agency. Moore is FOINE in this role. Goddamn is she beautiful and FOINE! At the age of 40, she looks amazing while running in her bikini. She kicks a lot of asses in this film. Moore stole the film from everyone else and she is the reason you watch this film.
Jackie Templeton- General Hospital (1982-1984)
Moore’s earlier role was in the daytime soap opera General Hospital. How can’t you fall in love with Moore because she is FOINE! Moore plays Jackie Templeton a role that was originated by her. She is an investigative reporter from NYC who is tough, no-nonsense and willing to do anything to get her story. Moore is great in this role, and you see a future star in the works. Jackie has some drama in this soap opera. Moore should ask to make a mini comeback for like a season before leaving again.
Esmeralda- The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Did you know that Moore was in a Disney animation film? Many people don’t know or can’t remember that Moore voiced one of the most beautiful Disney characters. In the underrated and sometimes overlooked, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The film follows Quasimodo, a disfurged young man who lives under a cruel master. His life changes when he meets the beautiful Esmeralda who treats him with kindness and respect. Moore brings passion to this movie and makes this character long lasting.
Claire Donnelly- If These Walls Could Talk (1996)
If you have never heard or seen if These Walls Could Talk, you are missing out. Moore spent seven years trying to get this film made until HBO was like, we will take it. This film isn’t for the faint in today’s environment as it shows three women in three different time periods handling the issue of abortion. This film was controversial back in the day and would be now. You have to give Moore major props for pushing this film and taking the risk. She as nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television for her performance.
