Today’s turtle star is the one and only Jennifer Lopez aka J. Lo. J. Lo is a goddess and straight-up hustler in the entertainment industry. She is a singer, songwriter, actress, fly ass dancer and businesswoman. Lopez has done it all and there is no end to her slowing down. Starting her career off on a culturally influential show as a Fly Girl on In Living Color, J. Lo has been dancing her way through #1 movies, #1 albums and straight to the bank. With a career that has spanned for four decades, J. Lo has starred in over thirty-five films that has made her one of the highest paid actresses in the world. Along with films, she has sold over 80 million records with having four #1 hits. BIG TIME!!!

Selena Quintanilla- Selena (1997)

Via: Warner Bros

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was an American singer and songwriter who was tragically killed as she was about to reach a whole new level of stardom and influence. She was extremely influential in her short time in this world. When a biographical movie was announced, J. Lo was chosen to star as the amazing singer. This was J. Lo’s breakout role even if there was criticism about her getting the role. J. Lo managed to bring a star performance and even received a Best Actress nomination at the Golden Globes.

Herself (Fly Girl) – In Living Color (1991-1993)

Via: Fox

Lopez most high-profile job at the start of her career was being a professional dancer as a Fly Girl on the awesome sketch comedy show In Living Color. Appearing in seasons three and four, Lopez showed she had all the right moves and started her career. Lopez danced/filmed in the morning and went to acting classes in the evening. She showed that she put in the work to be successful and will be a future star. You can’t forget the past and must give honors to it.

Karen Sisco- Out of Sight (1998)

Via: Universal Pictures

When you get to star alongside George Clooney, you need to take up that offer. Lopez stars along Clooney in Out of Sight, a film adapted from the novel by Elmore Leonard. In this witty, sexy crime comedy, Lopez plays Karen, a U.S. Marshal who has a lot of appeal and beauty but also tough as nails. Lopez is great in this role and she has great chemistry with Clooney. This role showed that Lopez was here to stay in the film industry and just getting started for a long and successful career.

Ramona Vega- Hustlers (2019)

Via: STXfilms

I have to admit that Lopez went BOSS MODE in this film and performance. Adapted from a magazine article, Lopez plays Ramona Vega, the savvy vet in stripping. Ramona is the mastermind and leader of the group. Lopez brings her A-game. She is beautiful, sexy, and see why men would lust after her on the stage. Lopez also shows that Ramona is strong-willed and has the street smarts to rival any man. This movie went from meh to damn this is fascinating with Lopez’s performance. She should’ve been nominated for an Oscar for this role.

Herself- If You Had My Love (1999)

Via: Work

Lopez has made a ton of music and songs. For this list, we are going to give it to her first #1 hit song. The song was her debut single from her first studio album. The song became a massive hit and was number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks. This song showed that Lopez can cross over from film to music. She did it in a big way.

Dr. Catherine Deane- The Cell (2000)

Via: New Line Cinema

Lopez is a sight to see in this trippy psychological horror film. Playing a social worker who enters the mind of a serial killer that is in a coma to find his latest victim, this film is crazy. The visuals in this film are outstanding and it is a film where Lopez makes you care about her character and what she is trying to achieve. Lopez is great as she is in some outfits that make you raise an eye. I’m looking at you red outfit. This film showed Lopez’s range.

Terri Flores- Anaconda (1997)

Via: Sony Pictures

Anaconda is a classic film. The first film that started a franchise. Who would’ve thought a film about a giant ass snake would become popular. This is also a classic J. Lo film with one of her earlier works. She plays Terri, a member of a documentary film looking for an elusive tribe in the rainforest. Her world changes when she becomes a piece in the plan of a snake hunter. Things get real and J. Lo is great as she stars alongside Ice Cube and many others. You can’t eat J. Lo or crush her.

Judy Robles- Unstoppable (2024)

Via: Amazon MGM Studios

J. Lo gave a powerful performance as the real-life mother of Anthony Robles who became the 2011 NCAA wresting champion despite being born without a right leg. J. Lo must’ve spent a considerable about of time with Judy to really display the emotions of this very supportive mother. J. Lo’s hard work paid off with praise, but she should’ve been nominated for a major award. This was one of her best performances in years.

Gabriela- Blood and Wine (1996)

Via: Fox Searchlight Pictures

In this neo-noir crime thriller, Lopez stars alongside Jack Nicholson. In the film, Nicholson plays Alex, a down and out wine merchant who is in some major debt. When he decides to steal a diamond necklace, he gets help from his mistress Gabriela, played by Lopez. Lopez gives a strong performance as Gabriela. She makes the most of her screen time and shows her character and at the end, shows how powerful and voiceful her character can be. This wasn’t like romantic comedies that she has done a few times.

Marisa Ventura- Maid in Manhattan (2002)

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

Starring alongside Ralph Fiennes, Lopez plays Marisa Ventura. Marisa is a single mom who works as a hotel maid. With some mistaken identity, falls in love with a high profiled guest. The film is meh but Lopez does her best with the role. Seemed to lack some chemistry with her main star but it is one of her better films.
