This amazing actress started her illustrious career in Mexico until she came to Hollywood and took off. Her beauty, work ethic, charm and hustle mentality had her reach the top of the film industry. Throughout her amazing career, she has been nominated for an Academy Award, four Emmy Awards nominations and becoming one of Hollywood’s most powerful and influential Latina actresses. Frida Kahlo- Frida (2002)
Based on the troubled life of the iconic Mexican painter, Hayek Pinault is excellent in the title role. In the film that is based of the ups and downs of Frida’s life from adolescence to death while chronicling her relationship with her long time partner Diego Rivera. The film is one that should be watched. Hayek Pinault gives a critically acclaimed performance that rewarded her with being nominated for all the major awards along with becoming the first Mexican actor to receive a Lead Actress Oscar nomination
Santanico Pandemonium- From Dusk till Dawn (1996)
This was the first role I had ever seen Hayek Pinault in and GAWD DAMN!!! In a film starring George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino, this was a cult horror vampire flick. Hayek Pinault’s character has a small role as the vampire queen or leader but damnit, it is the most memorable of the entire film. When you think of this film, you immediately think of Hayek Pinault. She is BEAUTIFUL and the dance she does with the music and snake is iconic.
Carolina- Desperado (1995)
This was Hayek Pinault’s Hollywood debut and there are some scenes that make you want to see more of her. Starring alongside Antonio Banderas, the film follows El Mariachi as he is on a path of revenge and destruction. This role garnered attention for Hayek Pinault and introduced her to a wider film audience. As her breakout role, Hayek Pinault is funny and intense as Carolina. The scenes where she is yelling is priceless. This showed that she was a future star.
Queen of Longtrellis- Tale of Tales (2015 film)
This film was on Hulu one day and I decided to watch it. Let me tell you, this film is really good and a must watch. It’s one of those films that flew under the radar. I didn’t know about it until it showed up on Hulu one day. In this dark fantasy horror film, it is bad on 17th century fairy tales and we’re not talking about Brothers Grimm. Hayek Pinault plays the Queen of Longtrellis with the goal of having children with the king played by John C. Reilly. For some reason, they ask a necromancer for help. Hayek Pinault is superb as the cold and ruthless queen who has the ambition to get what she wants. The heart eating scene is the one that is most shown of Hayek Pinault. Such a critically acclaimed role for Hayek Pinault.
Kitty Softpaws- Puss in Boots (2011)
In the spin-off from the Shrek series, Puss in Boots makes his stand-alone film. In the film, Hayek Pinault gives her seductive and beautiful voice to Kitty Softpaws (excellent last name). It came as a surprise that this was Hayek Pinault first voice acting role. She knocked it out of the park. The character she voices is a cat thief who develops romantic feelings for Puss. She made Kitty sound like a boss character. Hayek Pinault voiced the character again in its sequel eleven years later in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
Beatriz Blanco- Beatriz at Dinner (2017)
One of Hayek Pinault’s best roles. As the title character, Beatriz, who is a masseuse who treats cancer patients with holistic treatments, things go awry when she gets stuck at a dinner party for a client. Hayek Pinault is great as she combats Doug and his ways of thinking. It is an extremely powerful performance for the times we live it and the people who think the opposite to the way we think. Hayek Pinault back and forth dialogue with John Lithgow’s character makes this performance worthwhile to watch.
Sonia Kincaid – The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017) & The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021)
Hayek Pinault is lovely as the con artist Sonia. Nothing like having a con artist wife to back you up. As Sonia, she is the wife of Samuel L. Jackson’s character Darius. In the first film, Hayek Pinault plays a supporting role but, in the sequel, she takes center stage alongside stars of Jackson and Reynolds. In the sequel, she has way more character development is fun and charming. She is one of the stars of the film even if the second film wasn’t that good.
Teresa – telenovela Teresa (1989–1991)
Starring is her first lead role and last telenovela role, Hayek Pinault is a beautiful, intelligent and ambitious woman who wants to get out of poverty and schemes her way into a wealthy family. Never seen the show but my best friend stated that this needs to be on the list as she watched it and thought it was an excellent show. I will go with her recommendation and add it to this wonderful list on this wonderful and beautiful actress.
Roxanne Chase-Feder – Grown Ups (2010) and Grown Ups 2 (2013)
In this ensemble cast, the beautiful Hayek Pinault plays Roxanne, the wife of Lenny. Roxanne is a fashion designer who has some of the best outfits. Hayek Pinault is great in this role as she is sassy, speaks her mind and doesn’t put up with any BS. Hayek Pinault comedic timing and humor are great as she really stood out from the rest in this role.
Minerva Mirabal – In the Time of the Butterflies (2001)
Hayek Pinault is at her best in this TV movie about the real-life story of the Mirabel sisters. Hayek Pinault plays Minerva, one of the sisters who become revolutionary activists who oppose the violent dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. Hayek Pinault is great as she shows the ups and downs of Minerva on her quest. Hayek Pinault showed tremendous range and showed why she is a serious actress who can dominate the screen.
