One of my best series is back again for another posting. When you find a good movie quote, it lives with you forever. You can find a way to use it all the time, or it will lead you to great and wonderful things. This time around, I am happy to present to you some of the finest movie quotes where you will wish you were home, think of chocolate and have an identity crisis.
“There’s no place like home”– Dorothy Gale, The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Home is where the heart is. This quote has such deep meaning in the Wizard of Oz. In the film, Dorothy wants to bounce from the little farm she lives at in the middle of nowhere. When a tornado rolls up, she is swept away to the wonderful land of Oz. When Dorothy gets her wish, she longs to get back to the normal life of the farm. No matter where we go and travel, at the end, there is no place like home.
“My mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” – Forrest Gump, Forrest Gump (1994)
The most iconic quote in the entire movie, Forrest’s mama was speaking the truth with this quote. Life is a journey and like a box of chocolate. You can reach in and pull out a wonderful looking chocolate, and it could be either great or nasty based on taste. No matter what, you have to live life and go through what you choose.
“I know who I am. I’m the dude playin’ the dude, disguised as another dude!” – Kirk Lazarus, Tropic Thunder (2008)
One of, if not the best quote to come out of this whole film. Robert Downey Jr. is hilarious as Kirl Lazarus, an Australian method actor who gets pigmentation surgery to play a black character. The quote is spot on with Downey’s character because he is an Australian actor who is playing a black character. This is honestly the most spoken quote from the whole movie and sums up so many things with film. Well done Mr. Downey Jr.
