Oh, Pam Grier! In the era of blaxploitation films, she was the undisputed QUEEN for the era. Quentin Tarantino stated she was cinema’s first female action star, and she could whip anyone’s ass. Grier is a badass black woman who starred in such films as Coffy and Foxy Brown. Pay respects to this Queen or you could end up shot, stabbed or thrown through a window.


Nurse Flower Child ‘Coffy’ Coffin- Coffy (1973)

In a role that brought Pam into the forefront of being a star, she starred as the one and only Coffy. In this Blaxploitation film, Grier kicked a lot off ass and took a lot of names. In the film, Grier plays Coffy, a nurse who goes on a revenge mission against a group of drug dealers after her sister gets addicted. Grier is cool and collected as she goes on a rage that will scare everyone.


Foxy Brown- Foxy Brown (1974)

Oh, Foxy Brown! If you want to see a Blaxploitation Queen, then Grier was it as Foxy Brown. Grier was one of the strongest black women on the planet in some of the best black power films ever. In Foxy Brown, Grier stars as the title character who turns into a vigilante to get vengeance against mobsters who murdered her boyfriend. Grier shined like a freakin diamond as Foxy Brown.


Jackie Brown- Jackie Brown (1997)

I have seen Jackie Brown a few times and it was one of the films that introduced me to the wonderful Pam Grier. When I first saw Grier, she scared me as I thought she was the toughest black woman on the planet. In a film that paid homage to 1970s blaxploitation films, particularly Coffy and Foxy Brown. Grier plays the title role as Jackie Brown, a flight attendant, smuggles money from Mexico into the United States for Ordell Robbie. This role revitalized Grier career.


Louise Williams- Mars Attacks! (1996)

In Tim Burton’s comedic alien film, Grier plays Louise Williams a bus driver who is spying on her son. The film is absolutely crazy as the aliens come and destroy pretty much everything around. Grier is one of many stars in this film as it seemed to employ anyone and everyone.


Lisa Fortier- Scream Blacula Scream (1973)

In the sequel to the one and only Blacula. Scream Blacula Scream was a funky and fun. Grier plays Lisa Fortier, an adopted apprentice of dying Voodoo queen Mama Loa. As Lisa, Grier shows off the incredible voodoo powers of Lisa in a beautiful and kick ass way.


Grear- The Big Doll House (1971)

The film follows six female inmates through daily life in a gritty, unidentified tropical prison. Each of the women are beautiful and seemed out of place in prison and soon they decide to escape from the prison. Grier plays a lesbian cellmate Grear who heroin-addict girlfriend Harrad will be equipped to escape. The escapees wield big guns, major attitudes and a ton of ass whipping against the sadistic guards.


Lee Daniels- Black Mama White Mama (1973)

This film was inspired by the 1958 film The Defiant Ones in which Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis are shackled together similarly to Grier and Markov. Grier stars as Lee Daniels who is brought to a women’s prison in a tropical country. She is doesn’t see eye to eye with Karen Brent, a prostitute and a revolutionary. As they are transferred to a max prison, they are chained together and go on a journey to free each other.


Katherine “Kit” Porter- The L Word (2004–2009)

In this Showtime series, the series follows the lives of a group of lesbian and bisexual women who live in West Hollywood, California. Kit is the half-sibling of Bette Porter. She is very loyal, passionate, and supportive of her family and friends.
