2018 was the year of the superhero film and where Marvel rained supreme. Marvel dropped Avengers and one of the best superhero movies ever, WAKANDA FOREVER!!! The year also brought Deadpool back to the forefront and Aquaman. The year also brought iconic films like Crazy Rich Asians and A Star is Born. 2018 was an awesome year for film but it was still they year of superheroes and when Thanos ruled with the snap.

Black Panther

WAKANDA FOREVER!!!! One of the greatest superhero films ever made. A film that showed blackness to the highest of levels. Chadwick Boseman, you will forever be my king and forever make me believe I can be a superhero just like all the others. What can I say about Michael B. Jordan? One of the best villains in Marvel history that made a wonderful point about why he was doing what he was doing. Hey Auntie! WAKANDA FOREVER!!!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

A hilarious and great Spider-Man film that focuses on Miles Morales. Loving how Marvel is showing ethnicity with their characters. In this film, Miles becomes the new Spider-Man and joins other Spider-People from various parallel universes to save his universe from Kingpin. The scene where he jumps off the building is amazing and priceless.

Avengers: Infinity War

Via: Marvel/Walt Disney Studios

Marvel continues their DOMINACE with Avengers: Infinity War. The film where Thanos comes, whip ass and does the snap. The film where he gathers all the infinity stones. The final battle scene when Thor arrives to the battlefield and goes H.A.M. What was up with Star Lord? You messed up everything. Marvel needs to be given their props for bringing everything together in one epic showcase.

Mission: Impossible- Fallout

Via: Paramount Pictures

I don’t know about you, but the Mission Impossible films keep getting better and better each time they come out. Tom Cruise seems too be the best spy in the world while hanging on to the side of the plane. Let’s talk about Henry Cavill loading up them guns and about to go wild on some people. Dude loaded up his arms in a fight and was the best part of the whole movie.

Hereditary

Via: A24

You know that I think the Exorcist is one of the best horror movies. Hereditary might come in a close second because it is that good. There are many scenes that had my skin crawling and made me want to hit that “NOPE” button. Toni Collette’s performance is straight up all-time great. Expect to be afraid and your mind blown.

BlacKkKlansman

Via: Focus Features

I have to put this film on the list as it is Spike’s Lee first ever Academy Award win. Took the academy long enough. Set in Colorado Springs, Colorado during the 1970s, the story follows Ron Stallworth, who is hired as the first black officer in the city. He teams up with his Jewish coworker, Flip Zimmerman and together they infiltrate and expose the local Ku Klux Klan chapter.

A Quiet Place

Via: Paramount Pictures

No lie, one of the best horror films in a while. The best film where no one makes a sound as some monster will come and kill you. The film is intense with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. I have to admit that I am very impressed with John Krasinski as he directed a great film. How many people would be off this earth if they couldn’t make a single sound.

Bumblebee

Via: Paramount Pictures

This is how a Transformer movie should be. In a “reboot” of the series, we go back in the past and showed how Bumblebee came to Earth. John Cena is quite funny in the film but the story is actually way better than many of the other Transformers films. See what happens when people take their time to really think of a decent film.

Venom

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

Spider-Man villain/anti-hero makes another debut after the disaster of Spider-Man 3. This time, the film has Tom Hardy to thank as he is a major upgrade. The story is meh but once again, it’s freakin Venom. The film has many funny scenes between Eddie and Venom. This was a decent start to the stand-alone films that Marvel has done so well. Sony please sell the Spider-Man rights back to Marvel.

Crazy Rich Asians

Via: Warner Bros

This was a recommendation pick by one of my best friends. If I didn’t put it on the list, I would hear about it. I also had to watch the movie in a marketing class where we talked about the demographic of Singapore. Now, the film follows a Chinese-American professor who travels to meet her boyfriend’s family and is surprised to learn they are one of the wealthiest families in Singapore. The film does hit the standard mom doesn’t like girl and all that craziness but it’s a wholesome story.
