I know I am late to the party. I actually watched M3GAN when it first came out and forgot to write a review on it. I am here to say that M3GAN is the new hot thing in the market, and this movie was freakin AWESOME!! It reminded me somewhat of my childhood. I had a Teddy Ruxpin and played that sucker until the mouth fell off. I heard the doll was spooky, but I loved it. Sorry for getting off track. I was hesitant to watch this film because I thought it would be another film like Chucky, but M3GAN has pushed that orange-haired doll aside and slayed.

The film starts with Cady (McGraw) and her family visiting the mountains on vacation. Cady’s father is trying to drive through a blizzard until he decides to stop on the side of the road. A snow truck decimates the car, killing Cady’s parents. Cady’s aunt, Gemma (Williams), a genius robotic engineer for the toy company Funki in Seattle, becomes her tutor. Gemma is developing a from the toy company Funki in Seattle. Gemma has been working on a new toy doll called M3GAN- Model 3 Generation Android with her team in secret. Her boss wants a cheaper toy than a rival toy. Gemma gets a call and decides to take Cady in. The pair have significant problems as Gemma severely lacks parenthood and works her ass off with long hours, leaving Cady alone. They share a small bond when Gemma shows Cady her first robotics named Bruce. Seeing how much Cady likes Bruce, she decides to fully develop M3GAN. Gemma introduces M3GAN to Cady without doing a full diagnostics. The prototype is paired with Cady and developed according to her needs. Rather than Gemma developing an emotional bond with Cady, M3GAN becomes one Cady relies on. As M3GAN becomes self-aware, she soon has a major attitude adjustment.

This movie is incredible, and I could watch it many times. First, what the fuck was that commercial in the beginning? It looked like a cross between a Furby and some span of Satan. The film has enough violence, cheesiness, and sassy dialogue to make it a great slasher film. When watching the movie, many questions arise that could relate to the real world. First, why would you make a doll to raise your damn kids? It is like today with everyone on their phone and doesn’t want to take responsibility. We see that M3GAN became the one to raise Cady. She draws Cady a beautiful picture and then starts teaching her life lessons. Gemma stated that M3GAN’s purpose is to do 78% of what parents need to do. Also, side note, Cady had a serious problem with flushing the toilet.

The film became excellent when one of M3GAN’s directives was to protect Cady. When M3GAN became self-aware when she was talking about death. SHIT GOT REAL! When M3GAN gets attacked by the dog and then it bites Cady. M3GAN almost flipped her shit. Homegirl looked at that dog with grass in her hair while it looked crazy. She had this evil look that she was about to do some significant damage, and well, the dog was quickly handled. Another scene is when Cady goes on a school trip and is picked on by a bully. M3GAN went OG when she chased that boy and got him killed. It was straight-up insane. The iconic scene was when M3GAN went after Gemma’s boss. That dance and stoic impression sent chills, but it was so freakin good.

The final scene was beyond AWESOME. When Gemma and Cady get home, M3GAN is straight up, sitting in the darkness and playing the piano. She straight up scared me. The dialogue is perfect as M3GAN says, “oh, big whoop,” when Gemma says she kills people. M3GAN turns into the Terminator. Arnold has nothing on M3GAN, as homegirl said she would rip Gemma’s head right off, and flips her around. M3GAN is a straight-up gangsta. The fight between M3GAN and everyone was thrilling. M3GAN had that straight up exorcist type movement going on. I want to say big up to Cady for using Bruce, who did some damage to M3GAN. I will say that there is a scene from the Terminator.

I want to say that the acting was surprisingly good. I was pleasantly surprised with Allison Williams as Gemma. She was a woman completely out of place and only knew robotics. She had Cady in mind when making M3GAN but was also naïve. How are you going to let a doll raise a child? You’re supposed to be smart, gurl. I also want to give props to Violet McGraw as Cady. A girl grieving over her parents’ death, when she connected with M3GAN, homegirl went psycho when she couldn’t be around M3GAN. She did a fantastic job. Amie Donald and Jenna Davis (voice) as M3GAN were spectacular. This could be their only job, and they have my vote for the motion picture Hall of Fame. When you make a doll that creepy and have a sassy voice to go with it, you deserve major props.

M3GAN is my new favorite killer doll. Homegirl slays literately and figuratively. This type of film will impress you as it is not that scary but has enough appeal to keep you vastly interested. Parents need to raise their own kids and not have a doll do it for them. Please watch M3GAN because you will be satisfied.
