The Vietnam War was an intense period in American history. My father served in the Vietnam War, being drafted at 18 and he has some stories about fighting over there. There are plenty of films that depict this war. I have some great quotes from movies that are based on this war. You will love Napalm, say good morning and think Vietnam is absolute hell.

My dad fought in the Vietnam War. He had some stories from it. One of the most famous Vietnam War movies has to be Apocalypse Now. A film that follows Captain Willard and his secret mission to assassinate Colonel Kurtz. This film is crazy and one of the craziest scenes is with Lt. Col. Kilgore. After storming an area and ordering a napalm strike, he gives a little speech and drops this line. One of the best movie quotes ever. It is subtle as it shows a man who has been in the war for so long that he loves the burning smell because it smells like……..victory!

War can be hard and terrible. Sometimes soldiers need a little light to keep them going. Good Morning, Vietnam is a film where Airman Second class Adrian Cronauer is a DJ of a popular morning radio show. Robin Williams is amazing in this role as he improvised a lot of the lines.

Platoon is a great Vietnam film based on director’s Stone experience from the war. The film follows a new young soldier by the name of Chris who is in his first week in Vietnam and under the leadership of his Platoon Sergeant and his Squad Leader. Shit gets real during his time in the Vietnam. His quote is spot on, and I asked my dad about his time in Vietnam during the war. He said almost the same thing.
