I decided to switch it up with the quotes and add in some ones from comedy. The comedy genre has some funny and amazing quotes that live on in movie history. Get ready to laugh at some of the situations that the characters find themselves in before the epic line is dropped.
“You Were Only Supposed to Blow the Bloody Doors Off!” – Charlie Croker, The Italian Job (1969)
What do you get when your bomb specialist messes up completely and blows up the truck rather than the doors? You get this classic quote from Michael Caine from The Italian Job. In the 1969 British Caper where Michael Caine plays Charlie Crocker just out of prison. He decides to rob a truck with gold bullions from Italy. While planning what to do, Arthur blows up the truck rather than the doors.
“Tis But a Scratch” – The Black Knight, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
From a scene in the famous and hilarious Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Arthur rolls up on the Black Knight who denies him from crossing his bridge. Arthur and the Black Knight fight and at first Arthur cuts off the Black Knight’s arm. The response that the Black Knight gave was epic. As football players say put some dirt on it, this was but a scratch.
“So you’re telling me there’s a chance …” Lloyd Christmas, Dumb and Dumber (1994)
Dumb and Dumber is one of the craziest films around. Starring both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne as two best friends, they embark on a mission to return a briefcase. When Lloyd delivers the briefcase and asks Mary if they have a chance, they will end up together, Carrey delivers this epic line after being denied. Hey, no matter what, there is still a chance to be with the one you like.
