Today’s entry comes from the drama film, East of Eden
From the clip provided by Warner Bros comes a slap that will make you perk up and then go, “Damn, he whipped his ass” from the sheer surprise of the slap and the follow-up. We call this the “I’m Trying to Help You” Slap.
East of Eden is a film starring the late James Dean. The film gets its inspiration for the tale Cain and Abel. In the film, Dean plays Cal who is seeking his own identity, vies for the affection of his deeply religious father against his favored brother, Aron.
The slap at hand comes after Aron, Cal and the rest of town get into a brawl after some of the city folk harass a German man. After the brawl, Aron is upset and questions Cal motives. Cal was protecting his brother, but Aron wasn’t having it. When Aron grabbed Cal’s face the look on his face was, “Who the hell you think you are?” look. Cal delivers what protective slap that stuns Aron and then follows it up with two punches just for good measure. The slap was quick and surprising. Effective in its manner.
