Lee Ermey who plays Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, the senior drill instructor is beyond insane and perfect. Ermey served as a U.S. Marine drill instructor during the Vietnam War and ad lib much of his dialogue. Ermey delivers the “You Going to Believe in God Today” Slap.
What we call the “You Going to Believe in God Today” Slap. Against a taller man, Emery goes cross chest with the backhand. Now I would say the slap was okay and not impressive but the insults after bring this slap to the forefront. Sometimes after you slap someone, that’s the end of it, but when you just start insulting someone, that is even better. Respect!
