From the clip provided by Annapurna Pictures comes a slap that will make you rub your own cheek.
If Beale Street Could Talk is a film based on James Baldwin’s 1974 novel of the same name. The film follows a young black woman who, with her family’s support, seeks to clear the name of her wrongly charged lover and prove his innocence before the birth of their child against a racist cop. The slap comes at the 6:47 mark and once again, domestic violence is a no-no in my book. After Fonny’s mother berates Tish as being no good and all that, Fonny’s dad delivers a “Shut Yo Damn Mouth” backhand slap to his wife.
Once again, no man should ever hit a woman. This slap would’ve been 50x better if Tish’s mom delivered this slap because Fonny’s mom deserved it. Actually, Fonny’s sisters deserved some slaps also and I wished Tish’s sister put her hands on them also. This slap would’ve been a 4.5 out of 5 but since it is a man hitting a woman, I need to knock it down.
