The gift that keeps on giving. Here we are again for another batch of awful movies from MY PEOPLE in Black History Month. This time around we have a few sports movies, a few drama movies and other films that were made or starred by the my people. Here we go again with the rabbit hole of bad movies.

Juwanna Mann (2002)

Via: Warner Bros Pictures

There are some sports movies that shouldn’t be made or even see the light of a stadium. Juwanna Mann is that film that is tasteless and straight up awful. Jamal Jeffries is a UBA basketball star who is unprofessional on-and-off the court and has an awful reputation in the basketball world. When he is suspended indefinitely after he strips naked in protest of being removed a game, he gets the bright idea to dress up as a woman and play in the women’s league. There is nothing inspiring or funny about this film. Might as well go outside and dribble a basketball for a couple of hours because it would be way better than watching this film.

Crossover (2006)

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

Wow. Damn. My Lawd! These are the words that describe crossover and they are not on the positive side. These words describe the feeling of sheer stupidity of this film. It is a film that is seen so many times you could probably name a few others. Making a film about streetball was a decent idea but there was no crossing over anyone on the court. The acting is terrible. You better than this Anthony Mackie. The story is laughable and might as well watch And 1.

The 51st State aka Formula 51 (2001)

Via: Momentum Pictures

In a film that can’t decided if it wants to be called the 51st State or Formula 51. This film is only good because of Samuel L. Jackson but even he can’t keep this film entertaining. The film follows Jackson’s character who is an elite chemist who just graduated from college but is arrested for weed. After jail, he is in Britain where he has made a powerful new drug. Everyone wants the formula. Jackson walks around in a kilt and after that it is boredom.

Pootie Tang (2001)

Via: Paramount Pictures

This is my aunt’s guilty pleasure. When you first watch Pootie-Tang and many times after, you see that it is a terrible film. Coming from a comedy sketch that first appeared on The Chris Rock Show, the film follows Pootie-Tang. Pootie is a world icon who fights crime and makes sure bad food, drugs and alcohol are off the streets. Pootie also speaks in a language that is unintelligible to the audience but the characters in the film can understand him. Pootie also has this superpower with his belt. The film is crazy and out there.

Norbit (2007)

Via: DreamWorks Pictures

A line from the film is, “It’s a mad house!” This is my mom’s guilty pleasure. Another one of Eddie Murphy’s stinkers. Murphy plays multiple roles including the main characters Norbit and his obese and abusive wife Rasputia. The film follows Norbit’s life from regretting to marry Rasputia to his childhood sweetheart Kate returning and his plan to be with her. The film is bad on so many levels that I watch it for my mind to become mush.
