Movies That Make You Go Huh Animated #1

Here we go again. The series that keeps on giving. This time around I wanted to go in a different direction. How about some bad animated films? You think that almost all animated films are great because they appeal to kids and that is where the money is at. Well, I have some films that say otherwise and are not the best. Welcome to the first post for awful, animated films.

Rover Dangerfield (1991)

Via: Warner Bros

My brother and I used to watch this film all the time. It was one of our favorites. It starred comedian Rodney Dangerfield as the animated voice of a dog who is owned by a showgirl. When the showgirl’s boyfriend gets annoyed, he wraps Rover in a bag and yeets him off the Hoover Dam. You read that correctly. Somehow, Rover survives and finds himself on a farm. The animation is the only highlight, but the story is blah, and the jokes fall really flat. Oh, to be young and naïve.

A Troll in Central Park (1994)

Via: Warner Bros

If you have extremely young kids, this film would probably work best. If they are over five or six, it might be blah to them. It’s a kid’s film about a troll who is banished from the Kingdom of Trolls for growing flowers. What’s wrong with growing flowers? The troll ends up in Central Park where he becomes friends with two human children. The film is one of the worst for Don Bluth who made some other hits. It’s one of those animated films where you will not chuckle or be entertained.

The Pagemaster (1994)

Via: 20th Century Fox

I was one of the few people that went and saw The Pagemaster in theaters. My mom took my brother and I to watch this film in the theaters. I thought it was good at the time but years later, that wasn’t the case. This film is pretty bad. The cast is pretty good for its time starring Macaulay Culkin, Christopher Lloyd, Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Stewart, Leonard Nimoy, Frank Welker, Ed Begley Jr., and Mel Harris. Yet, it was terrible with a kid who is all about stats and doesn’t like to do anything else. He goes to the library during a storm and transported to a world where books talk and even ends up in a few classics.

The King and I (1999)

Via: Warner Bros

I watched the original The King and I and thought it was a great musical. One of the best and the acting was excellent. I don’t know why an animated film was made. This film was hard to watch as it really didn’t need to be changed in any way, shape or form. The animated version is missing the charm and splendor of the original. Sometimes, you need to leave things along and not remake it in.

We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story (1993)

Via: Universal Pictures

I remember when this movie first came out. As a kid, I thought it was a great film. Years later, I rewatched it and yea…….. What happens when you give dinosaurs a cereal called Brain Gain? They become smart and fun. With that the story is actually pretty standard with two kids from opposite places in the world becoming friends and try to save the dinosaurs from an evil person. The best scene in the film was the dance scene and the ending with the evil dude. That is it.
