Here we go again!! The genre that keeps on giving. I like the horror movie genre. I think it is entertaining, and crazy with some of the movies that are made. Some movies are so far out there that you can only laugh because the frights are pretty bad and the story is weak. Yet, I keep coming back to this genre because why not. Here is the 18th posting for this genre. Congrats!
Van Helsing (2004)
When Van Helsing first came out, I thought it was pretty good. I think I saw it in theaters. What could go wrong with Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing and Kate Beckinsale in skintight pants? What could go wrong when you have a film with Dracula, the Wolf Man, and Frankenstein all rolled into one. A Universal Horror Monster film dream! Well, the film was awful. There was no bringing this film back from the dead. It had a few good scenes, but you mostly wanted to put a stake through it and call it a day. It had a lot of promise and failed miserably.
Saw V (2008)
The Saw franchise has hit a new level of bad and needed to stop way before this film. When you have a new person imitating the original, then it is time to stop. This one has an FBI agent named Strahm investigating the murders committed by Jigsaw. We see Jigsaw’s accomplice, Hoffman, and must dodge all speculation. Listen, the Saw franchise game is not fun nor interesting anymore. It has become stale and all about the traps rather than a high-quality story.
Underworld: Awakening (2012)
The Underworld franchise hit its fourth movie with Awakening. Honestly, it should’ve stopped after the third film. In this one, mankind has discovered the existence of vampires and werewolves. In this fear, mankind wants to annihilate them. The film goes up and down with Selene and Michael being hit by a grenade and then a 12 freakin year time jump. Selene awakens and must now fight in this new world. Oh, and there is a little girl and new super werewolves. The film was all over the place and this series really needs to stop.
Slender Man (2018)
Slenderman is an Internet meme who is thin, extremely tall and lanky with no face and white head that wears a black suit. People have stated to seeing a creature like it stalking, abducting and driving people insane. When Hollywood hears about a creature that scares people, you know you are going to get a film. If Slender Man is real, even he wouldn’t want to terrorize people. Slender Man might ask for someone to just take him out of his misery because this film has no frights and completely laughable.
Boogeyman (2005)
This film is absolutely stupid. Boogeyman, please come through my closet door and get me. I would rather have that happen to me than watch this film. This whole new take on the boogeyman or whatever it was, failed miserably. Even the boogeyman itself would’ve walked out and said, “what the fuck is this shit? You can’t be serious with this?” Every horror movie in the 2000s seemed to revolve around a kid who sees something, moves away, comes back and fights the thing. Makes no freakin sense.
