The gift that keeps on giving! Video game movies are usually a hit or miss. Sometimes they are decent to watch and other times they just fail so bad that you don’t ever want to play the game again. This time we have a few video game films along with some bad films that revolve or have the elements of video games. Ready, set, Play or Fight or be sad that you had to watch these films.

Pixels (2015)

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

There are some movies that shouldn’t be made and Pixels is one of those films. Video games get a bad rap for being pretty bad but taking all the old school games and throwing it in this mess of a films was downright disrespectful to them. Adam Sandler has gotten lazy with his film and trying to bring back 80s nostalgia was so bad. This film needed to be eaten by Pac-Man pooped out, have Donkey Kong throw a barrel at it and then burn in the depths of hell.

Gamer (2009)

Via: Lionsgate

When I first saw Gamer, I thought it was cool but also really bad. The concept of having a first person shooter with prisoners was okay but after a while the film went to shit. First, how does one win the game that Cable was in? It made no sense. Was it based on kills or making it to a rally point? I know the point was to bring down the system but damn, did we need a stupid song and dance included. This film was Game Over on arrival.

Postal (2007)

Via: Vivendi Entertainment

Dear Uwe Boll, for the love of God, please don’t ever make another video game adaptation. House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark were absolute trash and somehow, someway you got another directing job with this film. What were you going with in this film? The games are quite controversial, and I guess you tried to use political satire but you should’ve kept it to yourself. Straight up wasting people time.

Hitman (2007)

Via: 20th Century Fox

Timothy Olyphant plays one of my favorite roles in Raylan Givens. Before that role, he played the famous Agent from the Hitman series. Maybe he should’ve skipped it because this film was assassinated upon arrival. The action was good but the dialogue and plot were so bad that you wished an agent would come choke you out from behind and steal your clothes.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003)

Via: Paramount Pictures

I think Angelina Jolie was a great choice as Lara Croft. She was a great movie model for the character. The first film was decent as you hardly ever see a female video game character starring in a major movie. The second film was downright bad. It was a bad mix of Indiana Jones meeting a bad movie. I thought it was interesting finding Pandora’s Box but watching this film was like opening that box with Hope escaping.
