In the future, the world has changed, and technology is the main reason for that change. The Berühren Corporation, the once leader globally to create powerful cyborg soldiers, has released their technology for public use. With this, humans have now become outfitted with cyborg parts and are now called “Extended.” Many of the Extended are former soldiers who didn’t have anywhere to go after the great war. Many of them now result in crime to survive.

No Guns Life follows Juzo Inui, a “Resolver” and a former Extended mercenary and soldier who specializes in solving problems caused by other Extended. One issue is that Juzo has no memories of his former life and has a revolver for ahead. It is a sight to see. Juzo’s life suddenly turns upside down and around when a giant robotic man with a boy on his back crashes into his office and asks for help. The man asks Juzo to protect the boy who is named Tetsurō Arahabaki. Soon, Juzo finds himself entangled with more people than he wants and tries to discover why they are after the young boy.

I want to say that this anime was an absolute BORE. I couldn’t keep focused on this anime, and I don’t know why? When the main character has the head of a literal gun, you would be intrigued to watch, and yet I wasn’t. This anime was just dull to watch and had very few entertaining moments. First, it had this whole Alita feel to it where in the future, everyone could have their bodies modified into robot forms. Let me tell you that there were some crazy-looking forms. Well, they walked around like people, but when shit got real, they transformed into crazy stuff. Secondly, if you think the story follows some type of solving cases, you are wrong. We are introduced to a boy, and it takes forever to figure out who the boy is and what other powers the rest of the characters have. It was honestly a waste of so many episodes. And I was like, “over it” after the first few episodes.

Also, I was expecting more drama and political themes from this anime. What would’ve been nice is to see how the world of politics worked as one side is for extended, and the other side is against it. I needed something like a major figure looking for world domination. People who became extended started to slowly lose their humanity and extend their lives. Still, all we got is some punk ass kid who can transfer his mind into someone else.

Now one of the best aspects of this amine is the animation. This anime is made after the same one that made Hellsing Ultimate. If anyone has ever seen that anime, you know how amazing that anime is drawn and how unique it makes the atmosphere and colors. With that said, this one still failed because even though it has great design, you have to do something with it, and it just ultimately failed.

Speaking of Hellsing Ultimate, this anime had characters that reminded me of that anime or had somewhat the personality of a few characters from that anime. First, there is Juzo Inui, an amnesiac private detective who works as a “Resolver,” taking on cases relating to Extended and priding himself on always seeing a case to completion. He is no Alucard by any stretch of the imagination. He is a dude with his head as a freakin gun, and when he goes into his war mode can shoot out a shot out but is unable to do it himself. I can go on about this character, but there is no need to because he isn’t memorable to me at all. Now, Mary Steinberg reminds me of Seras. She is a young woman who performs back-alley maintenance on Extended. She provides assistance to Juzo but seems to have some really self-conscience about herself and body when she installs an Extension on herself that replaces her breasts with two missile launchers, which noticeably increase her bust size when loaded. She did a major boob job on herself. Finally, there is Tetsurō Arahabaki. He is a brat at fist who we learn is the son of Berühren Corp CEO Soichiro Arahabaki. This dude was experimented on and possesses a device known as “Harmony” implanted in his throat, which allows him to control Extended bodies. I thought he was a waste of a character. The reason is that I hate smart-ass kids, and they just get annoying and make the anime just awful.

Overall, No Guns Life can be skipped, in my honest opinion. It had the potential to be a good anime, but it is just meh in the end. I would highly suggest going to watch something else. The characters are okay as one has a revolver as a head, and others did significant work on themselves. This anime rarely provides any action, and when it does, it is over the top. Watch this anime for fun if you need to.
