Oooooooh!!!! I have been waiting for a while to talk about this. You have no idea how excited I am to talk about this amazing show. Today’s Reel Talk will be about the one, the only, one of the best animated tv show ever, the one that made many kids in the late 80s and early 90s sit down and watch, a show that made you want to be rich and go on adventures. You know the show. The classic from Walt Disney Television Animation. We all know it! DUCKTALES WOOHOO!!!! If there was any other show in your mind, you really need to check yourself. DuckTales is my all-time favorite animated cartoon show. Scrooge McDuck is my idol. I have my very own Scrooge McDuck collection, and I have NO shame in telling people I do. Get on Scrooge McDuck level. I am happy to present to you why DuckTales is the all-time greatest cartoon show.

Reason #1: The Theme Song

Life is like a hurricane

Here in Duckburg

Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes

It’s a duck-blur!

Might solve a mystery

Or rewrite history!

DuckTales! Woo-hoo!

The DuckTales theme song is ICONIC!! It has been highly regarded as one of the most famous and memorable TV songs in history. The theme song is so good that you know it from it being played for five seconds. You know you have a great song when it gets stuck in your head. What other animated series song is on this songs level. We need to give it up to Mark Mueller who wrote the song. I am forever in your debt. Now, I will admit that some of the lyrics are head scratchers like “duck-blur.” What the hell is a duck-blur but its whatever because this song is awesome.

Reason #2: The Story

Via: Walt Disney Television Animation

DuckTales has over 100 episodes and they are all entertaining. The show revolves around the amazing Scrooge McDuck who is uncle to Donald Duck. When Donald joins the Navy, he asks Scrooge to look after his three nephews, Huey (Red), Dewey (Blue) and Louie. Scrooge reluctantly agrees but is put off by the boy’s high energy. Once they get along, Scrooge and the boys go on many adventures which revolve around Scrooge’s continuous pursuit to grow his own business and fortune while not paying taxes or bills, which he hates. Through these adventures, the group meet many people who either want to steal Scrooge’s wealth, replace him as the richest duck in the world or go after his number one dime. Most of the stories revolve around three areas: 1) the crew trying to stop whatever villain trying to steal Scrooge’s vast riches and wealth or number one dime aka the Beagle Boys or Magica, 2) the crew going after whatever riches aka the sunken ship, a lamp or giant diamond and 3) focusing on a specific character aka Scrooge’s past love life. I will also say that the show will introduce you to famous duck characters that were actual historical figures. I’ll let you watch the show to figure those characters out.

Reason #3: The Characters

Via: Walt Disney Television Animation

DuckTales has some fascinating characters that cross into different shows. You will find a character that you will love and root for. I’m not going to talk about all the villains because that would be a really long article and we have treasure to go find. I’ll keep it to no more than four characters.

The first character that should be talked about is the one and only SCROOGE MCDUCK!!! Scrooge McDuck is a Scottish-born duck who has a fly ass outfit which consists of a blue frock coat, top hat, pince-nez glasses and a cane. Scrooge is extremely rich. I’m talking about having shut the hell up money rich. Even though no one knows his actual wealth, it has been predicted that his wealth is “one multiplujillion, nine obsquatumatillion, six hundred twenty-three dollars and sixty-two cents.” Scrooge’s accountant stated that McDuck’s money bin contains “607 tillion 386 zillion 947 trillion 522 billion dollars and 36 cents.” My mind can’t even comprehend that amount of money. Scrooge is so rich that Forbes Additionally, has him ranked at the number 1 spot on The Forbes Fictional 15 and put his wealth around $41 billion. Scrooge never completed any formal education. He left school early to make that money. Scrooge is an entrepreneur and businessman and being a treasure hunter and using his vast researching skills, he will always come out on top. He is a shrewd negotiator and will make sure he gets what he wants in any deal. Let’s be real, Scrooge has a freakin MONEY BIN!! Who wouldn’t want to go swimming in money. I would sleep in my own money bin or be like the dude from Breaking Bad who laid on the money.

Next are the boys, the nephew’s aka Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The boys are distinguished by their colors with Huey wearing red, Dewey wearing blue, and Louie wearing green. Even though they roll with their Uncle Donald, when he goes off into the Navy, they live with their grand-uncle Scrooge. They are considered the ones who start the treasure hunting adventures by finding something or breaking something. They all are part of the Junior Woodchucks organization which has helped them learn survival skills and make it out of almost any situation.

Another famous character from the show is Launchpad McQuack. Launchpad is Scrooge’s personal pilot and one of the OG DuckTales characters. Launchpad might be a pilot but homeboy can’t land a plane to save his life. He usually ends up crashing the plane but somehow always walks away from it without any harm. His famous motto is “If it has wings, I can crash it.” Who says that and where did you learn how to fly?

My favorite villain is Magica De Spell. Magica is a straight up badass as she is a powerful Italian sorceress who calls everyone “darling.” Magica’s one and only goal in the show is to steal Scrooge’s Number One Dime. Why does she want it so badly? She believes that it has magic powers that will help her in her quest for world domination. Listen, as much money Scrooge has, I see where she would come to that conclusion. She is a powerful sorcerer who speaks with an East Eastern accent, lives near a volcano and with her brother, Poe, who was turned into a raven.

I said it before, and I’ll say it again. DuckTales is one of the best animated cartoons shows in existence. The theme song is the absolute best and a club banger. The characters are memorable. Who wouldn’t want the world’s richest uncle. The story/adventures are fun to watch. Jump on that old school DuckTales boat and start singing the song at the top of your lungs. Woohoo!!
