Overview
Sailor Moon follows the adventure of Usagi Tsukino. Usagi is a middle school student that is lazy and a dimwit. After befriending a talking black cat named Luna, Luna gives Usagi a magical brooch that transforms her into Sailor Moon, a soldier destined to save Earth from the forces of evil.
Usagi and Luna fight evil while assembling a team of fellow Sailor Soldiers to find the missing princess of the Moon Kingdom and the Silver Crystal. Along the way, Usagi teams up and awakens other girls who are Sailor Soldiers.

Sailor Moon actually has a great story and a continuation story. Once you get passed all the useless filler episodes and the monsters they fight over and over again, the story is pretty good. It is a story about growth, finding your own path from both the future and past, love, appreciation for your friends, and, most of all, girl power. The story follows Usagi Tsukino, a dimwitted girl who cries about everything. After meeting a talking cat named Luna, she begins her quest to find the Moon Kingdom princess along with the Silver Crystal. Usagi wears a magical brooch that helps her transform into Sailor Moon, a soldier destined to save Earth from the forces of evil. Throughout the whole anime, she meets characters other girls that can turn into Sailor Scouts. The story is split up into different arcs that make it easier to follow with the enemy growing stronger than the previous arc before. Once again, the series is excellent once you get passed all the filler episodes. There are a ton of cheesy, boring filler episodes. I will say that when everything gets series during the original story, there will be some tears and feels. Definitely a Girl Power anime.
One of the best things about the Sailor Moon series is the characters. There are so many characters in this anime that it is hard to pick from. All the girls have some epic transformations in some of the shortest skirts I have ever seen. A big gust of wind, and you could see everything. You will find a character to love and want to be like. Each character has their own personality and traits. With so many episodes, you really get to see the character development and trials of all the characters. Watching Sailor Moon will help you learn the solar system with ease. You will know your planets.
There is Usagi Tsukino, who can transform into Sailor Moon, the soldier of love and justice. She is the main protagonist and leader of the Sailor Soldiers, but boy, can she be annoying. She is a dimwitted crybaby who hates to fight and is terrible at school. One of her positives is that she has HUGE amounts of love for everyone, even if she gets jealous sometimes. Amy Mizuno is Sailor Mercury, the soldier of water and Wisdom. She is the quiet, shy but intelligent one of the group. She is rumored to have an IQ of 300. She always strives for knowledge with the hope of becoming a doctor. She is, by far, my favorite.
Rei Hino is Sailor Mars, the soldier of fire and passion. She is the fiery one of the group. She works as a priestess with her grandfather. She is a very focused individual that gets very annoyed with Usagi at times. She and Usagi always argue all the time. She is my second favorite. Makoto Kino is Sailor Jupiter, the soldier of thunder and courage. She is by far the tallest and strongest of the girls. She lives alone and is rumored to have been kicked out of her previous school because of fighting. She is one of the most level headed of all the girls. Minako Aino is Sailor Venus, the soldier of love and beauty. She is almost identical to Usagi. She usually acts as a decoy and is in charge of the other sailor soldiers while being Sailor Moon’s bodyguard. This is only five out of like the twenty characters. There are other sailor soldiers and enemies.
With an anime being made in 1992, the anime is quite dated. Back in the 90s, the animation would have been a once in a lifetime thing. The transformations and when the girls use their powers are something else, but now, it is a little old school. The music is okay. You will know the words to the main theme song. The theme song is probably one of the most popular theme songs ever.
Overall, Sailor Moon is an excellent show for all to watch, girl or guy. It will teach you the value of friendship, love, courage, and everything else. One of the downsides to the anime is the outdated animation and the length of episodes. If you can sit through 200 episodes, then good luck. The episodes can be quite repetitive. Villains create a monster, girls fight the monster, girls win and move on again to a new monster. The show is worth watching if only you watch Sailor Moon, but once you start, you will become hooked.
