Honestly, I don’t know where to begin with this review. The disappointment that resides in my body is so high that I absolutely can’t even describe it. How the hell do you mess up The Last Airbender? Honestly? How the freak do you mess it up? The cartoon tv show is outstanding, along with all the spin-off, but this movie right here is a piece of trash that even fire won’t burn. Actually, let’s keep this in perspective on how bad this film is. Fire won’t burn this piece of garbage. Water would split apart like the seas if it came close to it. If it touched the earth, it would melt a hole through it. If you go near it, air would be sucked away from you. That is how awful this movie is.

So, what is the Last Airbender about? It is based on the first season of the Nickelodeon animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The film was written, co-produced, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the master of the many twists in cinema. He is the man behind the Sixth Sense. Well, the movie is supposed to be the first season of the cartoon series. Here is a quick rundown of what this movie is about. The world is divided into four kingdoms where each of them represents a specific element like in Captain Planet. We have Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. The realm and peace are under the supervision of the Avatar, a link to the spirit world and the only being capable of mastering the use of all four elements. Well, 100 years ago, Avatar Aang says, “I’m out,” and disappears from the world. At the same time, the Fire Nation obliterates the Air Nomads that Aang lived with. The movie starts off when siblings Katara and Sokka from a Southern Water Tribe find a mysterious boy trapped beneath the ice outside their village. Upon rescuing him, he reveals himself to be Aang, Avatar, and last of the Air Nomads. The world is in turmoil as the Fire Nation has declared war on everyone and wants world domination. Aang realizing what is going on most learn the elements and set the world right. First up is understanding the world of Waterbending.

Honestly, where does one even start with how bad this movie is. M. Night Shyamalan should be ashamed of himself for putting out a film like this and destroying how people look at the show. Shame on you! First, the story is entirely off base with a few things from characters to the show’s overall tone. You had the perfect source material from the show. All you had to do is not f**k it up, and you did. You take a cartoon show and make it into a movie. How hard can that be? It seems pretty hard to do because this movie made no sense.

What was up with all the terrible acting? Did people forget how to take an acting class because I don’t know what this was? Yea, the film is made off of a cartoon TV show, but Damn! Other TV show movies didn’t have this bad of acting. The jokes were stale, and no one seemed to know if this should be a serious movie or a lighthearted movie. Whoever signed off on this should look themselves in the mirror and go, really? I approved this movie for others to watch.

I don’t really want to, but I must talk about the special effects and the CGI. What the hell was that? Everything just looked off and clunky. It was like, we should put some stuff in the film to make it look nice, and if it makes sense, it does, but if it doesn’t, we will still be cool. It was just terrible, and it could’ve been really cool to look at if done right. You know what the best part of the CGI was?? The dragon. The dragon was the best part of all the CGI.

I want to bring this up. Yeah, the film had diversity in it but damn, give some other races a chance. I would’ve love to see the race that is featured in the show be the primary race in this film. It seemed like everything was backward with a tiny bit of whitewashing. We got to get past this, not hiring people for the role that is described.

Okay, I am done talking about The Last Airbender. It is a complete waste of time, movie, and money. I would rather watch the show over and over again than this. If you are going to make a movie, at least make it decent and enjoyable to watch. WORST MOVIE EVER!!
