Lisa Rowe- Girl, Interrupted (1999)

Via: Columbia Pictures

In the role that brought her the Academy Award, Jolie was the one that carried this movie and made it worth watching. I don’t know what Jolie did to prepare for this role but damn was she fantastic. When you play a person that unstable, you deserve an award because when Jolie came on the screen as Lisa, she commanded the whole movie. As Lisa, she was charismatic, manipulative, rebellious, abusive and gave the staff hell.

Lara Croft- Tomb Raider Lara Croft (2001)

Via: Paramount Pictures

There were many people probably in the world who might’ve been able to bring the iconic intelligent and athletic British archaeologist to life. Jolie brought Croft to life in a fun and sexy way. Jolie wore those short shorts, duel wielded those pistols and had a sassy tone to everything. Loved it all. She made a video game straight up decent to watch.

Fox- Wanted (2008)

Via: Universal Pictures

Jolie said very few words in this film but her presence sure was felt. She was beautiful but would kick your ass in a heartbeat. The film was a sleeper hit and to see curving of bullets and a movie about assassins, what more could you want. Even with few words, Jolie is just so seductive but a killer.

Jane Smith- Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)

Via: 20th Century Fox

Starring alongside Brad Pitt, the pair play a bored upper middle class married couple surprised to learn that they are assassins belonging to competing agencies. This was a fun movie to watch as each of them are hired to kill the other. The dinner scene and house shootout are fun to watch. The car chase scene is where its at. Once again, a true fun and exciting movie to watch.

Christine Collins- Changeling (2008)

Via: Universal Pictures

In the Clint Eastwood mystery drama based on a true story, this is one of Jolie’s best roles. She plays Christine Collins, a woman who is united with a boy who she realizes is not her missing son. She tries desperately to show everyone that the boy is not her son. In her quest she is called delusional and even thrown into a psychiatric ward. Jolie showed the emotion of a mother who should know her son but also one where you might not believe her.

Evelyn Salt- Salt (2010)

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

An action thriller where Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA operative accused of being a double agent for the Russian government. Jolie is actually intense in this film and is the only one that really saved this film from oblivion. The plot is quite predictable as it seems to follow other spy films but Jolie gives it her all and whips a lot of ass.

Master Tigress- Kung Fu Panda (2008)

Via: DreamWorks Animation

In the hilarious, Jack Black voiced film, Jolie voices the one and only Master Tigress. She is the strict, no-nonsense, disciplined South China tigress and leader of the Furious Five. Her character believes that Po is not fit to be the dragon warrior but warms up to him in the end.

Maleficent- Maleficent (2014)

Via: Walt Disney Studios

One of the most iconic Disney villains of all time, Jolie brings to life the one and only Maleficent. The evil one who brought despair to Sleeping Beauty along with turning into a big ass dragon. This story instead sheds light on Mistress of All Evil and tells her side of the story. You see Jolie’s high ass cheek bones. She embodied this role and was pleasantly evil.

Kate Libby/ “Acid Burn”- Hackers (1995)

Via: MGM/UA Distribution Co.

In one of her first roles ever, Jolie plays Kate aka Acid Burn. The movie is somewhat meh. As time goes on, it’s gotten a tad bit better. The main story that Jolie has is going against the other hacker Zero Cool and she is tough and quite sassy.

Amelia Donaghy- The Bone Collector (1999)

Via: Universal Pictures

Working alongside the great Denzel Washington, Jolie plays Amelia, a newly recruited patrol officer who discovers a mutilated corpse buried. Jolie is great but sometimes seems overwhelmed playing alongside Denzel. She holds her own sometimes but hey, a great learning experience.
