The great Gary Oldman has been in the game for a very long time. Oldman is known to have a very intense and versatile acting style. Throughout his illustrious career, he has won many accolades from an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and three British Academy Film Awards. He is also one of the highest grossing actors of all time. Oldman has some of the best roles from Count Dracula, James Gordon, Sirius Black and many others. One of his roles is considered one of the greatest villain roles of all time. Everyone needs to applaud this great actor.

Norman Stansfield- Leon: The Professional (1994)

One of the greatest movie villains EVER has to be Norman Stansfield played by the great Gary Oldman from Leon: The Professional. This is one of my favorite Gary Oldman roles. There is some major over the top acting. The story is good but you watch this movie for Oldman’s performance. He should’ve at least been nominated for best supporting actor.

Winston Churchill- Darkest Hour (2017)

Via: Focus Features

I stand and applaud your performance as the Prime Minister. Oldman was absolutely PHENOMENAL in this role as he transformed his mind and body into the former Prime Minister. The way he smoked his cigar and peered over his glasses as he talked was simply outstanding. You can tell Oldman spent hours studying the Churchill. Even though Oldman won the Academy Award for Best Actor in this film, my all-time favorite performance from him will still be from the Professional when you said, “EVERYONE!”

Count Dracula- Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

Via: Columbia Pictures

Oldman was really good as the title role and showed some acting range. He made Dracula and showed some crazy quirks of the evil lord of darkness. I mean, the licking of the razor blade was crazy and strange. Yet, Oldman seemed to change his delivery and became more charming and formal when Dracula was in Britain.

James Gordon- The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)

Via: Warner Bros

Oldman is great as the only police office who is on Batman’s side. In the Dark Knight trilogy, Oldman brings his own version to Jim Gordon. Over the years, he develops Gordon from a detective who wants to fight corruption to a police commissioner during war time with the Joker. Oldman plays Gordon as a serious man who fights for the good of the city and wants to clean it up even if Batman is a vigilante. To protect the city, he will do what is necessary. He is the perfect police partner for Batman. His best scene was when he outsmarted the Joker to capture him.

Sirius Black- Harry Potter film series (2004-2011)

Via: Warner Bros

One of Oldman’s most popular roles was in the monster Harry Potter hit series. Oldman makes his Harry Potter debut as Sirius Black in the Prisoner of Azkaban. As Sirius Black he is a famed wizard who is framed and sent to the mighty prison in the wizarding world. He spends twelve years in prison before escaping to find Harry Potter where we learn that he is Harry’s godfather. Oldman manages to play Black excellent as he was what you picture in your mind. As Black he is a good person with a dash of darkness in him.

Zorg- The Fifth Element (1997)

Via: Gaumont Buena Vista International

If you are looking for a sci-fi film that has some Blade Runner aspects, loads of action and a pretty simple story, then look no further than The Fifth Element. Oldman plays Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg or simply Zorg. He is an Earth industrialist who is working for the great evil. Even though not one of Oldman’s best roles, he has a way of playing a villain that will make you notice him.

Zorg- The Fifth Element (1997)

Via: StudioCanal

It’s hard to believe that from a long career that this film was Oldman’s first Academy Award nomination. Oldman was great in this role as he seemed to embody Smiley. He chose the right glasses, gained weight and took mannerisms from Alec Guinness, who first played the character on television in 1979. Oldman had a way of being stone faced and sometimes calm in tense situations.

Lee Harvey Oswald- JKF (1991)

Via: Warner Bros

In a film that chronicles the possible conspiracies revolving around the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Oldman plays public enemy #1 and the alleged Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. Oldman studied and captured the mannerisms and personality of one of the few men to ever assassinate a President of the United States.

Egor Korshunov- Air Force One (1997)

Via: Sony Pictures Releasing

In a film where hijackers take over Air Force One, the President must find a way to protect his family and regain control of the plane. Oldman plays Egor Korshunov, one of the Radek loyalist who demands the release of their general. This film is great and intense. Oldman knows how to play a villain extremely well. Watching him and Harrison Ford was a joy to watch. This is a great thrill ride.

Dreyfus- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

Via: 20th Century Fox

In the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), and the second installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise, Oldman plays Dreyfus, an ex-police officer and the leader of the remaining human survivors. As Dreyfus, Oldman wants to protect the human race at all costs and has no quarrels of going to war with the Apes. Oldman plays a great villain when he needs to.
