Who’s the man who makes a movie every month?? Sam! You damn right. Samuel L. Jackson has been in so many movies that he is currently the highest-grossing actor of all time (excluding cameo appearances and voice roles). He has grossed over $27 billion worldwide and that number will continue to go up as time goes on. Sam has played so many roles, that when you look at his filmography, you forget he was in so many movies. Sam has played a Jheri Curl hitman, a houseslave, a robber at a wannabe McDonalds, a computer technician for a dinosaur park and recently, the director of an agency that recruits superheroes to fight against other supervillains. Sam has done it all and it has been a joy to watch.

Jules Winnfield- Pulp Fiction (1994)

Via: Miramax Films

In the long career of Mr. Samuel L. Jackson, Pulp Fiction was the one that made him Internationally known and the one where he blew up as a star. In the role as Jules Winnfield, Tarantino specifically wrote the role for him and he was PERFECT for it. With that Jheri Curl and intense look, Jackson made Jules a household name. Out of everyone, Jackson stood out the most and his “Ezekiel” recitation is a thing of beauty. Jackson received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Mace Windu- Star Wars prequel trilogy

Via: 20th Century Fox

When George Lucas announced the Star Wars prequels, Jackson was casted as Mace Windu is a Jedi Master and member of the High Council during the final years of the Galactic Republic. In the first movie, Windu has seen on the council giving his opinion. Now in the second and third films, Jackson brings out the FULL force of Windu. Jackson asked Lucas if his character could wield a purple lightsaber as a way of making the character easily distinguishable in large battle scenes. Let’s say that the purple lightsaber does wonders. Funny thing is that on the hilt of his lightsaber, he had engraved “bad motherfucker”, a reference to his role in Pulp Fiction. Pure genius.

Lucius Best/Frozone- The Incredibles (2004)

Via: Buena Vista Pictures Distribution

Pixar knows how to make their movies. In The Incredibles, it revolves around a family of superheroes, known as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. They hide their powers because of a government mandate and attempt to live a quiet suburban life with their three children. Jackson’s character is Lucius who is Bob’s best friend and has the ability to form ice from humidity. His superhero name is Frozone. The best scene is when the city is under attack and Lucius asks his wife to go fight crime and she goes naw, you ain’t messing up my date night.

Nick Fury- Marvel Cinematic Universe

Via: The Walt Disney Company/Marvel Studios

When you need someone to protect the Earth and call upon their mightiest warriors, you call on Nick Fury. Fury is the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who creates and enacts the Avengers Initiative after discovering otherworldly threats to the Earth. There is only one man who can do that, and it is Samuel L. Jackson! Jackson is great as Fury; he is calm but has that intense aura about him. Jackson knows when to smile and deliver the best line at the right time.

Stephen Warren- Django Unchained (2012)

In Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Jackson plays Stephen. Stephen is a person you will come to hate as he is a black man who absolutely HATES slaves. In the film, he is a senior house slave who is loyal and a close friend of Calvin. Jackson showed that Stephen is the one in charge as he runs the plantation while his owner is away. Stephen is the one who is far more intellectual than his owner and is probably the most sadistic on the plantation. Jackson is great in this role as he talks dumb but has every intention in staying in power. No one stays in the Big House but him.

Agent Neville Flynn- Snakes on a Plane (2006)

Via: New Line Cinema

Oh, Snakes of a Plane! A film that became an Internet phenomenon, due to the film’s title, casting, and premise. A film that will make you shiver because who wants to be on a plane where poisonous snakes are unleashed because a star witness is being targeted. Now I don’t know about you, but Jackson has no time for snakes. He definitely doesn’t have time for them on a plane. Jackson is a man who can do it all as some of us would be dead or scared. Honestly, who thinks of unloading snakes on a plane and yet the film and Jackson is really fun and thrilling to watch. When you throw down an iconic line, you deserve props.

Elijah Price/Mr. Glass- Unbreakable (2000) and Glass (2019)

Via: Buena Vista Pictures Distribution

In the role where Sam was the villain that was a major twist. Price is a character born with Type I Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a rare genetic disorder which left his bones extremely brittle. Jackson plays Price excellently as he rides around in a wheelchair but knows so much about villains and superheroes. Dude opened up a comic book shop and let’s be real, when Jackson rolled up with that Gumby hairstyle and purple outfit, you didn’t know what to expect. That twist at the end made Jackson seem so villainous.

Russell Franklin- Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Via: Warner Bros

In the film that Sam got plucked like a grape. Jackson played second fiddle in this film as Russell. He has some scenes that are funny when he gets close up on people to ask them a question. Sam made the biggest impression on the film when he was giving his speech to the group on what happened in the past. Out of nowhere a freakin shark ate him. Sorry for the spoiler but ate Sam like a grape.

Lt. Danny Roman- The Negotiator (1998)

Via: Warner Bros

Jackson played the top hostage negotiator for the Chicago Police Department’s east precinct. As, Roman, Jackson is great in this role as he is intense, puts people on edge and knows how to push the right buttons. Jackson is at his best in this film when Spacey shows up, who is the other top negotiator. They go back and forth with their negotiating film.

The Octopus- The Spirit (2008)

Via: Lionsgate

I honestly think that Jackson read the script and was like, F- It. This film was so bad and so crazy that Jackson looked like he needed to do a terrible movie just for the hell of it. As the Octopus, Jackson was a samurai, Nazi soldier, evil scientist, and the archenemy of The Spirit. Jackson tried to help this movie, but it was to no avail. Hey, we all need awful movies.
