There is probably no villain HATED more than Dolores Jane Umbridge from the Harry Potter series. I went to WonderCon and sat in on a panel called the psychology of villains. During the panel, we had to do a poll on who was the worst villain of all time. Dolores name shot up to the top of the leader board and got twice as many votes as the second villain. That is some true hate. This is a foul woman who should’ve been taken out with a wand more times than anyone can count. I have to give it up to Imelda Staunton for her performance. It’s one thing to read it in a book but it went to a whole new level seeing this despicable woman on the screen in her pink outfit. BLAH!!
How would you describe Dolores Umbridge. If you go by the book, she is an ugly woman. She was described as short squat woman resembling a large pale toad. Yup, a toad. Harry went on to say she had a broad, flabby face, a wide, slack mouth, and little neck. She also had bulging eyes but never had a long tongue like a toad. Harry also states that she had mousy brown hair where she often wore a velvet bow that further her toad look. Along with her appearance, Umbridge has a voice that will aggravate you. She speaks in a whinny high-pitch tone that sometimes is sweet and girlish, but she makes this sound like a ribbit when she wants to interrupt. I will say this, homegirl knows how to dress as she wears different outfits with a fuzzy cardigan. She was on point with her outfits that matched from head to toe. In the film series, she usually rolls with pink and as she grows in power, the darker the shade of pink gets.
Dolores makes the Grand High Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West seem like nice people compared to her. Dolores is straight up evil. Don’t let that sweet voice fool you because homegirl is evil. She is extremely ambitious, vicious, immoral, has an ego the size of England alone, manipulative in every way possible, probably racists and one who thinks she is better than everyone and everything. She has no problem breaking the rules if it means the laws are upheld and is quick to pull out that Black Quill to torture anyone who crosses her path. She will go to any lengths to torture people. I don’t know how she isn’t a death eater. Homegirl will accept bribes and abuse any power that she has. If it wasn’t for Lord Voldemort, I’m pretty sure that Umbridge is the one that rules supreme as the most hated character in the Harry Potter universe.
Dolores Umbridge is one person I don’t not want to meet if I was a wizard. She is straight up evil and diabolical. I’ll take my chances with other witches that I know. She has to be one of the most hated characters in movie history. She might be the greatest movie villain ever for how much she is hated. I’ve seen a lot of villains and homegirl might be the best one yet. Bravo on your ascension to villain supremacy.
