One of the biggest villains in video game history has to be the one and only General M. Bison from the Street Fighter game series. If you ever played the games, Bison first appeared in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior as the final computer-controlled opponent in the single-player mode. Bison is categorized as the leader of a criminal organization called “Shadaloo.” Through the game series, Chun-Li and Colonel Guile are both seeking revenge against the evil warlord for killing their loved ones.

This is about the film version of Bison. In 1994, a live action film of Street Fighter came out. The famous general was played by the late and great Raúl Juliá. This was the last role that Raúl Juliá would play before his death. He stated that the reason he took the role was because his kids loved the game.

In this version, General Bison is an egomaniac, psychopathic and megalomanic drug kingpin and notorious military dictator with the ultimate goal of ruling the world with an iron fist. Unlike the game version, Bison believes in himself as a benevolent leader and that the world needs him to make changes for the better. This doesn’t take away of Bison thinking he is a true warrior. When he believes that his rival, Guile, was blown up by a simple bomb, he took no pride in it. He stated that he wanted to fight Guile on equal footing to prove that he was the better man and break his neck. With this confidence, Bison’s biggest weakness is his MASSIVE ego. He considers himself a god and believes that nothing in the world can hurt him.

In the video game, Bison is one of the strongest characters. Homeboy has strange and massive powers. In the film, Bison doesn’t have any powers. With his suit, he gains multiple abilities such as flying, shooting electricity from his hands, and the ability to be revived as long as the life support remain intact. This doesn’t take away from Bison’s military might. He is a formidable fighter and commands a strong, modern military force.

Raúl Juliá gave a masterful performance as the military leader. Bison is one of the greatest villains in video game history. In the film as a military commander, he is fearsome, has a MASSIVE ego and if your village was destroyed by him, please know that it was just another Tuesday.
