There have been many movie Nazis throughout the years. Many take the cake as a villain and being truly despicable. One Nazi film villain that is one of the worse is Hans Landa played by the great Christoph Waltz. Waltz won an Academy Award for this performance. Hans is one Nazi villain that you will absolutely hate. He is a man that has a despicable nickname but has one of the greatest punishments against him.
Hans Landa is an Austrian SS officer with the nickname The Jew Hunter for his keen ability to locate Jews hiding throughout France. Hans is extremely egotistical and takes extreme pride in his reputation and love of his nickname. Even though he is egotistical and even ambitious, the dude is smart and knows when to jump ship. When he sees the Germans starting to lose the war, he simply scoffs at the notion and states that his job is to only find and capture people and them being Jews are zero consequence to him. Beneath his charming exterior, Hans is extremely cruel, highly intelligent, relentless, and ruthless. He is definitely a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A prime example is when he goes to the house to interrogate the farmer, Hans is extremely methodical and uses the Holmesian approach. No detail gets past him and his ability. Hans is fluent is German, English, French and Italian. Hans is what we all in this world as an opportunistic sociopath with his only goal is self-interest.
Hans Landa is an evil man who has done evil deeds in the world. In the film world, he is an iconic villain from the Tarantino movies. Even Tarantino called “one of the greatest villains he has ever written, and one of the greatest characters that he will ever write.” High praise from a director who made Calvin Candie.
