You know what’s scarier than a strong female villain? A villain that is a strong female GODDESS! What can you not say about Hela from the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thor: Ragnarök? Hela is played by the beautiful, talented, charming Cate Blanchett. There are many villains in the MCU but none of them are quite as powerful as the god of death. Her outfit is top-notch. You see that headgear. Straight up fearful.
Hela is the Asgardian Goddess of Death who serves as the ruler of Hel and Niflheim. She is based on the goddess Hel from Norse mythology. In the MCU version, she is the first daughter of Odin as well as the first one to ever wield Mjolnir. She served as Odin’s executioner and leader of the Einherjar in Odin’s plot to conquer the Nine Realms. Even though she served her father with extreme loyalty, faithfulness and obedient servant, as the years went by, her ambitions and powers grew so large that even Odin feared control over her. In a battle between father and daughter, Odin managed to defeat her but couldn’t come to killing her. Instead, Odin banished her to a real called Hel, where his life force will be the prison in which she could escape.
If there is a female god that can destroy all, then Hela is one you wouldn’t once to mess with. Once she tried to escape her prison. When Odin sent his Valkyries, she killed all but one. Only Odin could stop her. Hela personality is one that is highly on one end of the spectrum. She is extremely wrathful, ambitious, sadistic, callous, and manipulative. These traits made her and effective but insane leader, that was needed to complete Odin’s conquest. She has no worries of killing anyone who stands in her way or even questions her. A prime example is when she made her long-awaited return to Asgard. When no one knew who she was or even knelled to her, she slaughtered all in a matter of minutes. Homegirl plays no games. In Hela’s mind, you either serve her or against her.
Hela is one of those villains that could make you stronger if you serve her. Homegirl can make swords with ease and ruthless. Her personality matches one of a conquering dictator. Her strength, battle knowledge and ruthlessness, makes her an extreme villain. Knell before her or perish.
