WITNESS HIM!!! George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road was a MONSTER hit and the main villain in that film was Colonel Joe Moore aka Immortan Joe. Played by the late Hugh Keays-Byrne in the first film, Joe is someone you don’t want to mess with. Rising to power in the radioactive, post-apocalyptic wasteland, Joe is an extremely powerful warlord who is followed by his cult like army of War Boys who look at him as a god and will lead them to the Norse afterlife of Valhalla. Ruling over the Citadel, Joe has extreme power among the other warlords as he controls the only fresh water source. This is one person you don’t want to cross.

Immortan Joe is a menacing looking figure to the public. First, this villain wears a skull-like gas mask over his face. It gives him a fearsome look. He is never seen in public without his terrifying armor. His armor is made of bulletproof plastic which protects him from everyone who might want to kill him. The armor also makes him look like a complete badass as his breastplate is sculpted like a Greek God. On his breastplate is a collection of medals. On his hips are two extremely rare silver revolvers.

Behind closed doors, Immortan Joe looks terrible and less intimidating. When his armor is off, he is an old overweight and severely diseased man with scraggly white hair. Joe has pale white skin, but it is covered in tumors and open sores from his fight with cancer and other things. Joe also seems to have an awful respiratory system as he uses an air purifier to breathe properly. To help ease his pain, Joe covers himself in white to make him look like a ghost.

Immortan Joe is an evil bastard who runs his world as a cult leader and dictator. One of his best traits is his skills as a public speaker. The dude can talk that talk and convince many to follow him. He convinced all his War Boys to die for him and go to war for him. His speeches are legendary throughout the wastelands. Joe controls his world through his iron fist control of the Citadel’s resources, especially water. Joe is also a masterful tactician as he was a high-ranking military personnel before the wars. He uses this knowledge to command an army of crazy, obsessed warriors who worship him as a god and follow with without a single question. They will sacrifice their lives for him. Joe uses these boys with the promise of gaining eternal life in Valhalla.

Even though Immortan Joe is completely oppressive and totalitarian and rules with an iron fist, he is sometimes unselfish and a tad bit compassionate. He truly believes that the way he is doing things at the Citadel is for the greater good of society. He rations water, grows his own crops, captures people and uses them as “blood bags” aka blood donors, and has a unique breeding program. He does it all for the betterment of the people and thinks he is a just ruler. He even shows some care for his sons and has his favorites, he expects them to perform at the best of their abilities and show complete loyalty to him. When he finds a person that he considers a diamond, he holds them in high regard and respect, i.e. Furiosa.

Immortan Joe is a warlord that you might side with if you want to survive the wasteland. If you roll with him, you must give him your undying loyalty. If he says jump and give your life, you will give your life with the hope of going to Valhalla. Immortan Joe is a ruthless leader in a ruthless world who believes he is helping all of society. You can either join him or die in the world.
