If you think of Greek Mythology, one of the most famous characters is Medusa. Medusa was a gorgon who had snakes as hair and the ability to turn anyone to stone who gazed upon her. This posting is not about the Greek Mythology creature but the main antagonist in the Soul Eater anime series. Medusa is a fearsome villain who wants to destroy the current world. She is the middle child of the three Gorgon Sisters and has a very twisted view on love and everything else. She was a formidable villain in the series seemingly coming back when you thought she was dead.
Medusa doesn’t have the appearance that you think of in Greek Mythology with her snakes as hair and snake body. In this version, Medusa is an average build woman with a large, black, dotted snake tattoo going down each of her arms. Her facial features are creepy as her eyes have yellow irises with black pupils. She has blonde hair with two long strands extending downwards on each side of her face that entwine each other in front of her chest. She usually wears a black body suit with a hood. She also has a tail that is shaped like an arrow.
Unlike her Greek Mythology counterpart, this version of Medusa is a sinister and downright evil person. Medusa is a witch who relies heavily on her greatest skill: her ability to manipulate anyone she sets her eyes upon. She has such an advance acting skills that homegirl could win the Academy Award every single year. Medusa believes that the world is a boring place that only deals with the status quo. It is her belief that it needs chaos and destruction to make it more exciting. This thinking leads her to resurrect Kishin Asura. Medusa also enjoys and becomes lustful watching others in pain. If she is at the center of that pain, she loves it even more. Medusa is so evil that she put her own child, Crona, through tortuous punishments. Medusa is by far the evilest person in the entire anime. The only way that she was officially killed was when Maka used her Majin Hunt technique which erased all evil. With this, it showed that Medusa was pure evil.
Medusa is one of the most deceiving and cunning anime villains around. Even if she is not like her Greek Mythology counterpart, she is a formidable villain within the Soul Eater universe. Medusa has no problem doing everything she can to get what she wants and see the destruction of society. Be careful or she will turn you into something or cause madness within you.
