When you think of the white witch, you think of someone pure and kind. I could be wrong, but I think Glinda was a white witch. No matter, the white witch in films is supposed to be a good person. Well, when it comes to the Chronicles of Narnia, you might was well throw that shit out the window because the White Witch in this film is the exact opposite. Queen Jadis is played by the beautiful and talented Tilda Swinton. Swinton brings this evil witch to life. One that has made a cold winter last for 100 years and has complete domain over the lands of Narnia.
Queen Jadis is a fearsome person as she is extremely tall but beautiful woman. Homegirl takes immense pride in her appearance while showing that she can be terrifying. Her skin is as white as snow, but you can tell that she doesn’t go out in the sun to tan. Her hair is long, ash-blond and on the top of her head is a crown made of ice. She also carries a wand that is silver with a crystal of ice at the tip that helps her use her deadly magic. Let’s talk about her outfits. When she first appeared, she wore an elegant bluish-white gown with a white fur coat. Homegirl was looking fresh. When she goes to battle, she changes her clothes with green battle robes, a golden crown and rides around in the dead mane of Aslan around her neck. That last part shows how fearsome she is.
With a fearsome appearance, Queen Jadis has an equally fearsome personality. Please don’t get on her bad side. She is straight up an evil, cruel, manipulative and terror in the Narnian universe. Even though she speaks in a calm voice to Edmund, she is extremely intelligent, sadistic, power-hungry, calculating, and every word you can think of someone evil is her. She wants complete control of the world and will do anything to corrupt, twist and torture people to get what she wants. Honestly, homegirl is a megalomaniac and rolls up in Narina and declares herself queen.
Who wants to be ruled by this person? Yet, Queen Jadis still has more craziness about here. She is also selfish and will cause pain and destruction to her kingdom just because she can and show she has absolute power over all. With this, she is extremely arrogant as she can raise an army with the snap of her fingers while being narcissistic and self-centered. She thinks she has no equal but she does fear Aslan and tries not to mess around with that lion even though she crosses his path and meets and untimely demise.
Queen Jadis aka The White Witch is the definition of evil and cruelty. If you lived in the lands of Narnia, you went from sunshine to straight up snow for 100 years as she ruled with an iron fist. Queen Jadis made sure that no one questioned her rule and authority. Queen Jadis gives a lot of famous witches a run for their money and she might have a case for the title.
