There have been many villains that have faced off against the Dark Knight aka Batman. His ultimate villain is the Joker but who holds the number 2 ranking? That person is the one and only Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. Many have played this female villain, but we are going to focus this one on the one from Batman Returns. Played by the beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer who blew this role out of the park and became the standard on how Catwoman should be played for years to come.
In Batman Returns, Selina starts off as the meek assistant and secretary for the wealthy but ruthless Max Shreck. Selina lacks confidence in herself even though she has good ideas. When she uncovers a plot, Max attempts to kill her by throwing her out of the window to the ally below. Selina is revived by a group of alley cats and her personality completely changes. Gone is the meek, gentle soul. A confident, knows what she wants person lives in Selina as she seemed to have had a psychotic breakdown. As Catwoman, she looks for revenge against Shreck and allies herself with the Penguin. As Selina, she strikes up a romance with Bruce Wayne not knowing that he is the Cape Crusader.
As Catwoman, Selina has no qualms about using violence. She blows up a department store while doing some of the most amazing gymnastics you will see. She uses her sex appeal to get what she wants as many of the men crave her attention. She has no problem using a whip or anything else to get the job done. Best yet, she has nine lives and is happy to use some of them.
One of the most revealing things about Selina or Catwoman is her outfit. When she started off as meek Selina Kyle, she wore conservative clothes with glasses and plain looking colors. She was not attractive. When she was revived, a complete change came over her. She wore this skin-tight leather outfit and carried a whip. With the glasses disappearing, it showed off her beautiful green eyes.
Tim Burton’s Catwoman played by the lovely Michelle Pfeiffer is the best Catwoman around. Pfieffer brought this feline superhero to life in all ways. This is one villain you don’t want to see in a dark alley no matter how pretty and lovely she might look. Be careful or she might whip you and kick your ass all over Gotham.
