Shogo Makishima is an anime character that might straddle the line between villain and anti-villain. Showing up as the main antagonist in the first season of Psycho-Pass, Shogo is a man who wants to bring down the hold of the Sibyl System in the futuristic society. The Sibyl System is a system where people are treated and judged based on their stress level. We all will be in jail with our stress level. Shogo is a villain that pushes against the system as there is no free will and the world needs pain, destruction and chaos.
Shogo has the appearance of a man who could destroy all of society. He is a young man with long white hair and amber eyes. As far as his facial features, he has a slender face and a noticeable cocky and amusing smile when he looks down on his victims. Dude is very skinny where he looks like he needs to hit up a buffet, but this is part of his façade. Homeboy is a very capable fighter who can whip ass. Hell, he was even able to beat up Shinya in their first fight. I must give it to Shogo, he knows how to dress. He rocks many different outfits.
Shogo is a dude that you might kick it with but deep down have no idea he is about to mess up your entire world. Shogo was a humanist but rolled on the dark side. He loves cruelty, pain, destruction, chaos, savagery, and all the other evils of human nature. If there was a person who loves evil and death, Shogo rolls with the best of them and loves to watch people in pain.
What makes Shogo terrifying is his vast intellect and great philosophical and scientific insight. He spends most of his time reading works of philosophers throughout history. These readings have had a profound effect on his mental ability and how to combat the Sibyl System. He viewed the Sibyl System as evil and aimed to show that it was the system that was unnecessary control. His way of thinking made him an ideal candidate to be integrated into the Sibyl System for his out-of-the-box thinking. This way of thinking makes Shogo’s Psycho Pass damn near impossible to read. When scanned, he is considered an outstanding citizen. When he murdered someone in cold blood, his psycho-pass went down to zero.
Shogo is also very observant and has an incredible perceptive to turn almost anyone against the Sibyl System. Shogo uses his charisma to manipulate people into doing his bidding. He should really think about going into politics. Yet, he gives zero shits about anyone. He is heartless and has no loyalty to anyone. Whether you stand against him or with him, you are on a ticking clock because he does get bored easily.
Shogo Makishima is one of the most cunning villains in anime. When you are so calm and chill when killing someone that the system that judges you comes in at a zero, you crazy and a badass. Shogo charisma and philosophical thinking makes him a worthy villain to destroy society.
