Do you remember the problem child or class clown in school? The one who loved to joke, not taking anything seriously, but also one of the most intelligent people in your class. We all have known such a person. One of them might’ve been my friend. Here is something to think of. What if someone came back after 2,000 years and decided to reenroll in school? This person has such extensive knowledge that they embarrass all the elite students and their teachers. The Misfit of Demon King Academy is an anime in which the demon king returns after 2 millennia and reenrolls at an academy.
Overview

Two millennia ago, the demon king Anos Voldigoad waged countless wars against the human race. Tiring of war and strife, Anos makes a deal with the human hero, Kanon. Anos agrees to sacrifice his own life to make sure peace flourishes for centuries to come. After 2000 years, Anos is reincarnated in the new world. What Anos sees sickens him to his core. First, royal demons rule over the lower-class hybrid demons harshly, and society values Anos’s pureblood descendants above all else. Anos also notices that magic in the world has declined and that his descendants are far weaker and straight up trash now from the peace he made all those years ago. Anos, now a hybrid himself, decides that the best thing to do is reclaim his title of Demon King. Before he can do that, he must prove himself, enroll in the famed Demon King Academy, and graduate from it. Yet, the old Demon King is quickly labeled a misfit.
Review:

The Misfit of Demon King Academy is one of those anime that went on way too long. This anime was great for the first twelve episodes. Then, after that, it fell off a lot and, after a while, became boring in my eyes. Some moments stand out, but towards the end, you wanted it to be absolutely done. I couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to hit the fast-forward button.
As stated in the overview, Anos, the Demon King, is reincarnated in the new world after 2000 years. The birth of Anos was the funniest thing I have seen in anime. Dude was popped out his human mother. When his parents were about to name him, he straight up said, “My name is Anos,” to everyone’s surprise. The anime got off to a strong start with Anos rolling up at the school and battling a student. Dude killed and revived the dude multiple times. It was intense, but I loved it. The first twelve episodes show Anos battling several students and bringing them over to his side, while also making the school his allies. It also presented several former generals of Anos’ personal army who had lost their way and had to be brought back under control.
After the first twelve episodes, the show then introduced the former hero who had been reincarnated, along with a fake demon king. The anime really fell off here because it became repetitive. Yeah, some new enemies showed they were a “threat.” Still, Anos was so powerful that when they actually fought, he would do his little smile and defeat the dude with some unknown spell from centuries ago, or not even use his full power. There is only so much an anime can show with an OP character that you start losing interest. That is what happened to me. I couldn’t wait for this series to end. It should’ve been at least twelve episodes shorter than it actually was.
The animation of this anime was the highlight. Watching Anos or any other character use their powers and attacks was visually appealing. Was it out-of-this-world groundbreaking, like Demon Slayer? Nope, not at all, but it was decent to watch. I enjoyed seeing Anos blow someone away, have some kind of glow about himself, and even the female characters, who were drawn decently. There were no scantily clad girls with their boobs hanging all out. There was only one episode like that, and it’s when they had a beach day.

As far as characters go, this anime has a shit ton of them. Some stood out, and some you shrugged your shoulders and moved on. The main character is Anos Voldigoad, the dude who came back after 2000 years. He is your standard overpowered protagonist who doesn’t seem to get surprised and uses his knowledge and powers to beat everyone and everything. Then there is Sasha Necron. Her character arc changed as the series progressed. She was a bitch at the start, known as the Witch of Destruction for her Demon Eyes of Destruction. She is stunning to look at and would be a great girlfriend. Through the series, she changes her attitude and becomes more of an ally. Then there is Lay Glanzudlii, who is the reincarnation of Hero Kanon. This is my favorite character, as he was a beast with the sword. He was calm and loved the human race. Dude had a remarkable ability where he could die or his soul be crushed seven times before officially dying.
The Misfit of Demon King Academy is one of those decent anime series that would be good for beginners. It is a little long and will get repetitive, but there are fun moments in the series. This series should’ve been 24 episodes long, but it is what it is. Anos is an OP main character that you might find annoying because he really doesn’t go through any hardships. Give this anime a chance when you are bored and need some background noise.
