We are a week away from Halloween!!! The frights and screams have been gearing up. Werewolves are howling at the moon. Vampires are creepin through the nights. Zombies are doing the Thriller dance. Ghosts are haunting your house. There are so many things to love about Halloween. I have some blood-sucking movie quotes to get you more in the trick or treat mood.
“There are far worse things awaiting man than death.” – Count Dracula, Dracula (1931)
When Dracula is speaking with Mina, Lucy and Harker, Mina gives some line and Dracula speaks of death and how glorious it is. Bela Lugosi masterfully delivers the line with such charm, power and subtleness. The line is telling as you forget that Dracula might craze for death and regrets his immortality. He is a being that lives forever at night, not seeing the sun or anything else but darkness.
“Hi, I’m Chucky! Want to play?” — Chucky, Child’s Play (1988)
There are some dolls that don’t need to see the light of day. Annabelle might be the doll that has real notoriety, but the OG creepy ass doll has to be Chucky. A film where a serial killer transfers his soul into a killer doll, the doll tries to kill the kid and his mother. The quote drops when the mom sees that the doll has been talking without batteries. This is when all hell breaks loose.
“I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.” – Hannibal Lecter, The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
I would say that Hannibal Lecter is one messed up person, but he is a genius. This quote that he dropped is truly terrifying and will make your skin crawl. You need to give Anthony Hopkins all the credit for delivering this spine-tingling quote. His description about his encounter with the census taker and how he ate him describes that this man will look at you as a delicious meal.
