I want to switch things up for you on this posting of bad film. This time I want to give you some awful movies that revolve around dancing. Many can’t stay on beat or have rhythm. Dancing doesn’t matter how you look. None of us look like Michael Jackson out there. Just move your hips. These dance movies have no hip movement when it comes to what is presented on screen.
Staying Alive (1983)
Saturday Night Fever was a great film with the epic beginning and all the dance moves. The sequel Staying Alive was complete trash. John Travolta reprised his role as Tony. In this film, Tony has traded in his disco attire to make it as a dancer for Broadway. This film was unnecessary and so bad that you couldn’t help but change the channel. The dancing is horrendous, and it lacked everything that made the original special.
The Forbidden Dance (1990)
This is by far one of the worst dance movies around. The Forbidden Dance? It’s more like the Forbidden Watch. A film that wanted to capitalize on the Lambada dance craze during the early 90s, this shit was bad. Following Nisa, a princess of an indigenous Brazilian tribe who decides to visit LA in a desperate attempt to stop a corporation destroy the rain forest. Yup, you read that right and it is as bad as you think it is. Films that jump on a craze are always shitty and people wonder why it was made in the first place.
Honey (2003)
Jessica Alba is FOINE!! Yet, her beauty and dancing skills couldn’t help this film. The dance scenes were nice and fun to watch. The story and acting were bad, laughable and made you want to turn off the screen. It seems like the main character is doing something they don’t like and out of place in the area they want to be. Honey working three jobs and then becoming a hip hop choreographer. You sure this isn’t the Paula Abdul story. The VH1 on her would’ve been better to watch.
You Got Served (2004)
This movie was straight up ass to watch. The only good part of this film was the dancing. The story was ass. The characters were ass. This was a dumb movie to watch. I feel like the early 2000s films were two crews coming together and facing off. During it, someone dies and blah, blah, blah. You are better off watching other dancing than this film. Here is an idea, watch the Red Bull Dance Your Style. You will be entertained. The only thing that served in this film was your sanity.
Step Up (2006)
You would think of a film called Step Up, it would beckon the call to do something. You would also think that a film with around three or four sequels, the original, would be good or decent. Well, Step Up really didn’t do anything. It was a standard film with great looking stars in Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan but where the dancing. I could tap my foot five times and have more dancing than this film. It is a nice background film rather than anything special.
